Prayer is an important foundation of the Christian faith. Through prayer one is able to connect with the person and presence of God. Prayer is the divine vehicle by which one is able to receive supernatural wisdom and direction from the Spirit of God. Prayer positions one’s spirit to be breathed upon by the living God. God wants us to not only be prayerful, but to be effective in prayer. In this article we will discuss three practical keys that help us to achieve spiritual vitality in our prayer life.

Learn Not to Pray Amiss
When we ask God for blessings, resources, or opportunities we must check the motivations of our heart. God not only responds to the spoken words of our prayers but the purity of our hearts in connection to the words spoken from our mouth. It is important that any blessings bestowed upon us be used for good means, blessings for others, and unto the glory of God. James 4:3, “You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts.” Ask yourself before asking something from God, “Am I asking with the right heart and motives?”
There is Power in the Name of Jesus
In ancient times when a king sent a message or issued a decree by letter through a scribe or royal official there was often a royal seal used to certify the letter. The royal seal would be stamped onto the letter or parchment and provide evidence of the monarch’s approval of the contents within the document. The seal would often contain the name, signature, and/or logo representing the name and office of the monarch.
God has given us a divine seal to seal our prayers. God has afforded the name of Jesus to us that we are able to pray to God not out of our own authority but a higher heavenly authority — the authority of the Lord Jesus. Jesus instructed his disciples to use the authority invested in his Name when they approach Father God in prayer.
John 16:24, “Hitherto, you have asked nothing in my Name: ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.” When our prayers are answered by God it causes our hearts to be overflowed with joy. Seal your prayers today with the Name of Jesus.
Pray the Word of God
Often when approaching God one may be unsure what to pray or how to pray to God. I have always found it to be effective and powerful to pray the Word of God. The Word of God is the will of God. We know when we pray the will of God, that God not only hears us but will answer our prayers. One never needs to worry about praying amidst when decreeing and praying the Scriptures.
God promised to place a special watch over His Word. Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My Word that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not to return to Me void.” When we speak the Word of God in faith it goes out into the spiritual atmosphere and begins to work on our behalf and behalf of those we are praying for. God promises that his Word will not return void. That means the Word of God spoken in faith will produce results, it will produce fruit, and it will produce a harvest.
