A Word for Those Waiting for Their Promise – A Word by Kathi Pelton

As I woke up this morning the Lord poured into me such a deep compassion for those of you who have been waiting for an answer to your deepest prayer— and the promise that feels as though it’s getting further away rather than closer.

I tangibly felt His love for you, His compassion pouring out to you and His tenderness toward you because of the pain that you feel. Then I saw tears begin to fall down upon His face— because of how He feels your pain. But then, amid the tears I caught a sweet moment of a small smile. It was the smile of someone that knew a secret that would change everything and bring the answer that you have been waiting for— longing for— weeping for.

This slight, almost hidden smile, was assuring me that your waiting would soon be over. Like when he wept with Mary and Martha over the death of Lazarus yet He knew that He was about to call him back to life. Or when Abraham and Sarah thought the promise of a son was lost and yet God’s timing was close at hand. You too will hold the long awaited promise in your arms and watch what you thought had died come back to life.

He is not ashamed of your tears or disappointed in your struggle— He weeps with you and holds you so near to His heart. But He also knows that your promise is secure— He is comforting you even now with that assurance.

Promises often come when it seems all hope is gone. For me, that has happened many times.

“For the vision (promise) is yet for the appointed time; It hurries toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it delays, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay long.” Hab. 2:3
