An Anointing to Increase Endurance
Get ready to run the race with an increase in endurance! Recently God showed me in a vision a race track for horses. The horses were lined up at the starting gate ready to be released. In one of the stalls I was in it and wearing a track uniform. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my body just waiting for the closed gate to open. Anticipation was growing stronger for the sound of the starting signal. The process of waiting at the starting gate was very short, but of course when we’re ready to be released it can seem like eternity. Finally the starting signal was given, the gates flew open, and I took off running as if my life depended on it. I witnessed as I was running faster than the horses, but what stood out the most was the increase in endurance I had during the race. I was more excited about enduring than running fast.
God is saying that He is going to release an anointing to increase endurance in His children. Even in seasons of breakthrough the enemy still tries his best to slow us down or even worse to stop us dead in our tracks. The process can sometimes be hard and painful, but what is important the most is to simply finish the race! When God opens the starting gates to release us into a new season, we are to run with full force and with an endurance to jump over the hurdles and obstacles of life without slowing down and without giving up!
en•dur•ance: the fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way.
Marathon runners spend a lot of time in their “off season” by preparing for the next big race. Even in the off season it is not time to be lazy or cut back on their daily regimen, there’s still a lot of hard work to be done in order to maintain and increase endurance.
Sometimes as Christian we too have an “off season”. Those are the seasons where it seems like there are more obstacles and roadblocks that keep us from furthering our destiny in Christ. We call them “dry seasons”, where there’s not as much revelation or breakthrough. The attacks seem harder and seem to last longer. But if we maintain our daily spiritual regimen during the dry seasons, then Gods hand will sustain us to keep up our endurance so that we can persevere in the dry season. Our daily spiritual regimen should consist of reading the bible, praying, and worship God during any season.
Isaiah 46:3-4 (NIV) “Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Marathon runners are different than short track runners. A runner who competes at a track meet has one goal in mind and that is to win the race. Their race is short and they depend on their speed to run the race faster. Marathon runners though have a different goal in mind, and theirs is to just be able to finish the race. Marathon runners understand the need to prepare for the lengthy race by building up stamina and endurance. Speed is not a factor because using too much energy too soon can hinder their endurance. They understand the need to pace themselves, knowing their abilities and limitations that help them to stay focus.
As Christians winning the race is not the goal but instead to finish the race. We might get knocked down many times along the way, but it’s important for us to keep going and to finish. It’s not about who will finish first it’s all about reaching the goal. We too are to prepare for the lengthy race in life. Not burning out too fast by trying to do too much too soon. We are to know our abilities and limitations, and not lose focus on what is ahead of us. We all want a great season of consistency and longevity, but are we willing to continue enduring when the process is unpleasant or difficult? No matter the situation will we continue without giving way? God is releasing an anointing to increase our endurance. He is our strength! Don’t give up!
Acts 20:23-24 (NIV) I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
