There is a commercial on TV that shows a father talking to his son at the table. The father says, “So you quit your job and took all your savings and bought a new car. And now you are going to drive across the country.” The son says, “Yep, that’s my plan.” The father stares down at the table and says, “I wish I had done that.” The next scene, the son is driving his new car and the father is in the passenger seat sipping a slurpee and looking very content.
I believe in each one of us is God’s DNA that longs to take a risk at least once in a lifetime, particularly when it appears very foolish. There are those today who are being challenged by the Lord to put all their eggs in one basket and let the chips fall where they may; to step out into the crazy unknown where it doesn’t make a bit of sense, but brings a smile to God’s face.
I wonder as those remaining disciples sat in the boat and watched Peter walk on water, if it wasn’t one of those “I wish I had done that” moments that haunted them the rest of their lives.
Is God speaking to you today? Is He giving you a once in a lifetime opportunity to do what you’ve always wanted to do, so you have no regrets of “I wish I had done that?”
“The master was furious. That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously…” Matthew 25:26,27 (The Message Bible)
