Be Still And Know – A Word by Darren Canning

To be aware of the blessing of life and to be thankful for your moments is truly a key in this life to joy and peace. I learned a long time ago to just be present in my moments. To consider the blessing that God gave me to be alive. Life is so wonderful. I am talking about the conflicts that we all face: man versus man, man versus nature and man versus himself. These will and do occur and for them also we must learn to be thankful.

I am talking about finding God in your moments. I was driving down a road near my village yesterday. The air was clear. The sky was beautiful. The night before we had an incredible rainfall with lightning and thunder mixed in. The air seemed so much easier to breath. I was thankful for that moment and all the moments that I have had like that in my life.

My mind then turned to the God who created me for moments like that. I was thankful that I was created to recognize and enjoy my moments. Then I began to think of eternity and all the moments that are coming that God has ordained for my life. The crystal sea, Mount Zion and the new Jerusalem. And there are so many other things in store. The eyes of my Saviour looking upon me. Seeing Angels as they are.

Life is so beautiful. If when I say this, you want to cringe then you have not learned to pause and consider life or consider God. Even in the midst of all that is bad about this world, God is still available and He wants to bless and touch your life.

I had a hard life before Jesus. I knew what it was like to live in depression and fear. I knew what it was like to be abandoned and rejected by family and by those I loved. God was there.

I knew what it was like to suffer, to feel pain, to fear war. I watched the terrible moments that have occurred in my generation and have worried that perhaps we would not have a good life. I watched economies crash, towers come crashing down and people die in the most horrendous ways. Yet, my God is still here.

Be still and know that I am God is an invitation to enter into his rest. There was another in the fire with the three Hebrew children. God was there with Daniel in the lion’s den. He was with Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. He was with Paul in the shipwreck. He was with Peter in the prison. He will be with you and with me through every trial.

Be still and know that He is God. He has blessing in store for your life. He wants you to be free from the fear of sickness, poverty, and of your enemy. He will fight for you and conquer. He is more than a conqueror and so are you.

Jesus has a wonderful plan for your life, and as you connect with Him you will see it. Linger a little longer. Rest in His arms, and worship. I can assure you that as you connect with the vine, the vine will connect with you. His passion and His peace will enter into you. There will be no shortage of words that He will speak over you. His words will become your words and you will know the comfort of your God.

Be still and know that He is God is an invitation into the blessing and glory of God. It is an invitation to wait upon Him and be renewed. You will glide like the eagle over every obstacle and oppression that dares to come near you. You will soar with the eagle and see with new eyes.

Even as you go toward the crosses that are in store for your life, your vision will be filled with hope. You won’t see the cross but you will only feel His presence. Be still and know that He is God. Linger a little longer in the garden. Connect with His presence and to the vine. God wants to grant you His peace but it comes by seeking Him with your entire being. He promises that you will have Him if you seek Him with your entire heart.

I pray for you today. May each moment become a moment where you see the hand of God in your life. May you see the yellow and the pinks in the flowers as the brightest pinks and yellows. May you see the green of the trees and on the ground in ways you never imagined, and the blues of the sky and water as portals of hope. God is with you. You will be fine. I declare it, in Jesus’ name, amen.
