Discovering Your Inheritance
Last night, I had a dream. In the dream, I was sitting next a prophet and he told me to go my bookshelf and pick up a book called, “The Diary of Maria Woodworth Etter.” I felt like this book was significant in the dream, because it was connected to my calling. I took the book from the shelf and sat back down next to him. Then he said to me, “One day, when I go to be with the Lord, I’m going to leave all my books to you.” Then he told that many people want an earthly inheritance… I cannot express the sense of honor I felt to receive something from such a great man of God.
The books in the dream represented different anointings. In the natural, the books were not worth very much, but spiritually, they were priceless.
It is customary for a father to leave his son an inheritance. The Bible tells us that a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children.
The reason we are in such need of spiritual fathers and mothers in the body of Christ is because of the spiritual inheritance that they give to sons and daughters. Impartation is a practice that we can trace all the way back to the early church. Paul reminded his son in the faith, Timothy, of the impartation that he had received through Paul (2 Timothy 1:1-6-7). Faith, spiritual gifts, and even revelation can be imparted, and they make up a spiritual inheritance for us in Christ.
Many in the Body of Christ do not have the fullness of the revelation of what Jesus came to give us. Jesus came to the earth, not only to die on the cross for our sins, but also to leave us an inheritance. I encourage you to study and find out how often the word inheritance is mentioned in the word of God.
Paul the Apostle prayed that our spiritual eyes would be open to see the revelation of Christ’s indwelling.
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his INHERITANCE in the saints. (Ephesians 1:17-18). When the children of Isreal took the land of Canaan, the land was given to them for an inheritance. This is a type and shadow of Christ as our inheritance in the New Covenant!
Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an INHERITANCE incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you (1 Peter 1:4).
Every born again believer has an inheritance in Christ that is incorruptible and undefiled. Our inheritance is Christ; it is the kingdom of God, and the supernatural.
My prayer for you is that you would step even more into an understanding of your spiritual inheritance. I pray for the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to come upon you and that your spiritual eyes would be enlightened to see the glorified Christ living in you!
