Dried Flowers Blooming – A Word by Elaine Rice

One morning as I was waking up, I saw a large heavy book appear before me. It reminded me of a really huge dictionary my Mom used to keep on the bookshelf when I was growing up. (I am of the generation that grew up with the public library being our Google and there was no such thing as looking things up online!)

The pages of the book began to open and between the pages were some dried/pressed wild flowers in wax paper. There were a few violets, buttercups, and small white flowers.

I asked the Lord, what does this mean?

The Lord took me back to memories of my childhood and how I used to pick flowers and bring them home. Mom would help me preserve some of them by placing them between two pieces of wax paper and pressing them with a hot iron. Then we would place them in between the pages of a large book for safe keeping. Sometimes we pressed single flowers and used them as bookmarkers.

In this vision, the book was closed but then began to open and the pages were turning to the places where the flowers were pressed in the pages. I believe the Lord is extending an invitation for each one of us to come back and review the contents of things that have been preserved and put on the shelves of our hearts.

I believe this represents re-visiting dreams and prophetic words that we may have put up on a shelf or put away for safe-keeping. Sometimes when we receive prophetic words and they don’t come to pass in a relatively short time we put them “on the shelf” and move on with our lives. We may go through a drying or pressing place that is like being pressed with a hot iron (like the refiner’s fire). We may give up too soon, not continuing to war with our prophetic words with declarations, decrees, and prayer. (1 Timothy 1:18)

As I continued to ponder this vision, it expanded. A water pitcher appeared above the open book and tipped over to pour water onto the book. The flowers began to drink of the water and life was being restored to these flowers right before my eyes. The dried flowers are blooming again!

I believe the Lord is offering another opportunity for us, the Body of Christ, to re-visit old dreams, visions, and prophetic words that haven’t come to fruition yet. As we dig out these “dried flowers” and begin to declare the Word of the Lord over them the Lord will water them and bring new life to them.
