Dying Stars: Unlocking the Keys to Wisdom
DYING STARS by Jesse Shamp
“The teachers and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness (to the uprightness and right standing with God) shall give forth light like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3 Amp)

In 2011, I had a dream. In this dream I was in an open field under a night sky, sitting with a man of God whom I have great respect for. This man pointed to the stars, and suddenly the stars began to fall one after another . I woke up that night, stirred in my spirit. The next day, I traveled to Puerto Rico with my friend Munday Martin and James Goll. At one of the sessions, James spoke about how to avoid becoming a dying star. My spirit leaped; this was a confirmation from the Lord about what he had been showing me in my dream. Later on, I spoke to James about the dream. He told me that my interpretation was right and that the stars were ministry gifts. He said that many times an individual will function in the gifts of the spirit and will rise like a star, but will not have the character necessary to sustain them, so they then become dying stars. James Goll told me that the three things you need in ministry are these: Wisdom, Power, and Character.
Kenneth Hagin is known as “the Father of the Word of Faith movement.” I believe that Kenneth Hagin shines as one of the greatest examples we have today of a ministry gift. He operated with incredible integrity and character, as well as one that moved in the gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit. During the 1950’s, what was known as the great healing revival, Jack Coe told Kenneth Hagin, “God is using me more than he is using you,” and Kenneth Hagin replied, “In fifty years I will still be here because I choose to build on the Word and you choose to build on a gift.” Kenneth Hagin was right. Jack Coe went on to be with the Lord at age thirty-nine, and Kenneth Hagin continued on with his ministry. One thing that Kenneth Hagin said about his dear friend Jack Coe was that “he had one of the strongest healing anointings of anyone in his lifetime.” You’ve probably heard the story in Matthew 24 about the man who built his house upon the rock, and the man who built his house upon sand. The house built upon sand was washed away by the floods. We know that what the Bible refers to as the rock is the Word of God.
The only thing that will produce longevity in the life of a believer is a strong foundation on the Word of God. We cannot rely on gifting alone. We need the gifts of the spirit as well as the fruits of the spirit, because the same God of gifts is the God of character. The bible says that a wise man built his house on the rock, which is a sure foundation. When we rely on gifting alone, we are then building on the sand, and the bible promises that the house built on the sand will fall. Joshua was a young man full of wisdom; the spirit of wisdom rested on him. God is causing that wisdom to rest on this generation! Even in this hour, I believe God is raising up individuals who will be vessels of Honor. Daniel had an excellent spirit. God is raising up those who will be of an excellent spirit. The Spirit has assured me that there will be Daniels and Joshuas released in this hour. Is this you? Do you feel that you are a Daniel or a Joshua God being equipped for this day?
