Exalted Above Your Enemy – A Season of Promotion!
Abraham found the ram’s horn caught in the thicket, which Abraham sacrificed in place of his son Isaac on mount Moriah. The shofar, the ram’s horn, is spiritually significant in the scriptures of power, authority, and strength given to individuals. It is symbolic of kings and kingdoms, especially King Jesus.
Hannah went to the house of the Lord yearly during the feast of trumpets ( a day dedicated for the blowing of the ram’s horn). She went to the house of the Lord every year during the feast to pray and ask God for a son. Hannah was unable to conceive. Her adversary, Peninnah, would taunt Hannah for her barrenness. Peninnah had many children, whereas Hannah had none. In the house of the Lord, Hannah pressed in for a breakthrough! Hannah made a vow. The Bible says that Hannah vowed that if God would give her a child, she would give him to the Lord. The Priest Eli came into agreement with her petition and told her to go in peace. Hannah left the house of the Lord in joy, knowing that the Lord had answered her prayer. It was that day that she conceived. She gave birth to a son and called him Samuel, meaning “the Lord has heard.” Samuel was a child of destiny. He was one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament; everything that Samuel spoke came to pass! God gave Hannah favor and exalted her above her enemy!
And Hannah prayed, and said, my heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord; my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation (1 Samuel 2:1 KJV).
I find it interesting that Hannah would say that the Lord exalted her horn. Hannah conceived on the feast of trumpets, as well as Sarah and Rebekah. Every child of God has an adversary as Hannah did. Yet, God will anoint and exalt those whose hearts are right with Him.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6 KJV).
The Lord knows how to give favor and exalt the humble! When we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, He will surely to exalt and promote us!
Hannah said, he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of the anointed (1 Samuel 2:10 KJV).
He will give you honor for the dishonor that the enemy has tried to place on you. God will strengthen and promote you in due time!
And the Lord said to Samuel, how long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided for myself a king among his sons (1 Samuel 16:1 AMP).

David was the eighth son to pass before the prophet, and Samuel emptied his horn of oil over David. David’s promotion came from the Lord. I find it interesting that Samuel anointed Saul with merely a vial of oil, but David was anointed with the ram’s horn and was actually anointed three times in his life. God gave David a special anointing, even though the enemy tried to dishonor him, the Lord gave him double honor for his dishonor!
David later said, “But you will make me strong. I will be like a ram with strong horns. (You chose me for my special work). You poured your refreshing oil over me” (Psalm 92:10).
David knew what it was like to be anointed. He constantly longed for a fresh anointing!
“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge; he putteth down one, and setteth up anouther. For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. But I will declare forever I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
The Lord will promote you and anoint you right in front of your adversary, the devil. David said, “You have prepared a table for me in the very presence of my enemies!” The one that will never leave you nor forsake you is greater than the one that is against you!
David said, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation” (Psalm 18:2 Amp).
