“Get Ready for an Explosion of the Miraculous”

I heard the Lord say, “Get ready for long-forgotten prayers to be answered suddenly. I have not forgotten the desires of your heart. Although it looks impossible, I am the God of the impossible. There is nothing too hard for Me. Get ready to experience an explosion of the miraculous!” 

While getting ready to preach a series of prophetic messages the Lord had given me for the Christmas season, I started reading the Book of Luke. As I read the account of Zacharias and Elisabeth, my spirit began to leap within me. 

“ 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years” (Luk. 1:6–7). 

Although the Bible described them as “righteous and blameless,” it went on to indicate they were in need of a miracle, for they had no child. In that day, it was considered a great reproach to be barren. It seemed to be a hopeless situation for the couple, for it had been about 800 years since the last movement of miracles in Israel, which came through the ministries of the prophets Elijah and Elisha. It had been five hundred years since the Hebrew boys were delivered in the fiery furnace. Moreover, there was neither recorded appearances of angels, nor God speaking in at least 400 years since the writing of Malachi.

During those silent years, the faithful continued studying, living for God, and celebrating what He had done in the past for His people. Suddenly out of nowhere, God arrives on the scene, and there was an explosion of the miraculous. It was if an alarm clock sounded, and God’s Word was being fulfilled all around them. 

Being a priest, Zacharias’ time had come to burn incense upon the altar of incense. He was to take the hot coals and place them upon the golden altar of incense. The aroma and the cloud of smoke that ascended represented the prayers of the people, and as the smoke ascended, it was then that an angel appeared to Zacharias, signifying that God had heard the prayers of His people. Zacharias was terrified. What is more, the angel spoke to him, saying, “Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John” (Luk. 1:13). 

Notice it says, “was heard,” implying that the prayer was no longer being prayed. Perhaps because of their age and past disappointments, they had given up on even asking the Lord for a miracle. I’ll stop here and ask you a question, do you identify with Zacharias and Elizabeth’s predicament? Do you no longer pray over your deep-seated desire? Have you given up, thinking it’ll never happen? If that is you, the Lord has a message for you. He says, “Get ready for prayers that you have given up on to be answered with a miraculous YES! Your miracle is already in motion.”

“And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years” (Luk.1:18).

Notice that Zacharias spoke against the prophetic word from God. Speaking to the angel, he rehearsed out loud all the reasons why it would not happen. This serves as a warning to us today, refuse to partner with circumstances that go against the words that God has promised you. It is time to get your hopes back up and believe again! In fact, because Zacharias speaking against God’s prophetic word, he was made dumb and unable to speak (v 20). This was a show of God’s mercy to him, stopping him from speaking defeat to his breakthrough!

In contrast to Zacharias, Elisabeth conceived a baby and hid herself for the span of five months. She protected the promise she was carrying. She knew that there would be some people that would speak against that which God had done for her. She was unwilling to allow anyone to hurt her faith or speak against the promise of God. 

I heard the Lord say, “You have felt as if My promises were for everyone else but you, and I have ignored your cries. You thought this was just the way it was for you. You remained faithful, even though it seemed like your desire or dream would never happen for you. You have been barren. You have neither seen the fruitfulness nor the harvest in your life for which you longed. More than once you have felt like giving up, but still, you remain standing. I have seen your faithfulness. I have heard your prayers, even those prayers that you have stopped praying because it hurts too bad to believe anymore. You will see Me do the impossible. Take note, it was said of Elisabeth that she was past child-bearing age. You, too, have felt it was too late for Me to come through for you. I tell you to prepare yourself, for your past-due promises are coming forth suddenly! Even though it may have seemed as if I were silent in regard to your cries, I heard you. You will now see an explosion of the miraculous. I have set you up to see My hand move for you. When it happens, you will say, ‘This is a mind-blowing season.’ Partner your words with the moving of the Holy Spirit and the prophetic words that I have sent to you. You will see them fulfilled and experience that which I have decreed!
