God of All Hope

It was a terrible season of storms. The wind was blowing and the waves were crashing into my soul. The fear of the possible future was knocking on my door again. God spoke to my heart that sometimes we need to entertain the thought of our worst fears, in order to fully surrender them all to him. If only for a moment, in order to crown him King once again in our life.

There was something so dreadful and painful that I feared would happen. As I prayed against this horrible thought happening, I began to wonder…..what if it did happen. What if God allowed this terrible circumstance to happen to me? Then what? Of course I never wanted to suffer this thing, but could I trust the one who holds my heart? To truly allow Christ to reign in our life, we must come to a complete surrender to his plans. Even if it means suffering.

I can remember laying on the cold bathroom tile. The floor was completely wet from my tears. In his footsteps of surrender, I staggered to carry my cross. My heart was bleeding from the death of self that I was feeling. My entire being was shredded to pieces in the agony of surrender. With a trembling heart I told him that I would trust him. It took courage, but I prayed that his plans for my life be done, even if it meant the worst happening.

While walking on the water with Jesus, I began to ponder the word “hope”. The meaning of hope is “to expect with confidence or to cherish a desire with anticipation”.

My hope was that God was good. I hoped with all my heart that his plans for me would be good and that he did not desire to hurt me. Indeed my soul hoped that God would be so abundantly good to me and delight my soul with shouts of joy!

“Oh that I might have my request, and that God would fulfill my hope” (Job 6:8). Even in the agony and bitter pain of Job’s soul, he had hope that God would be good to him. Hope is yachel in Hebrew. One of the definitions listed for this word is “trust”. I know personally that I can trust someone that I believe will be good to me.

“Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful” (James 5:11).

Having faith in God is having confidence that God desires to be good to you. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

The word “substance” is hupostasis and it means “confidence”. When dread and fear come, surrender it to God. Then use your hope in God’s goodness and believe that God is good and he wants to answer the desires of your heart. To have confidence is to place your trust in his loving kindness for you.

The more you trust in God, the more you become unconquerable against the enemy (Proverbs 10:24).

“If you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree but also you can say to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea and it will be done”(Matthew 21:21). The mountain of fear covering you will be removed by your confidence in God to carry you and fulfill your prayer.

Yes there is power in our words. But more importantly there is unleashing power in our thoughts. Who is God for you?

Elijah knew that God was on his side. God delighted to fulfill the words of his messenger. After Elijah bowed to the earth and prayed to God for rain, he continued to look expectantly for the clouds. How did he have such confidence in God? Elijah knew that God was good. What he believed is what he experienced.

We can have what we believe. The most powerful source you have against the storm is to believe that God is good. Know that he wants good things for you. As you believe in your heart in the goodness of God, you will begin to walk on top of every enemy. The world will become a giant playground where you will come to experience the intentional love of God in every moment. He will delight to answer your prayers because you trust in him. Because what you think about God changes everything!

Even when there are times when it looks like bad things are happening, continue to look for the ray of light to find you. God has promised that he turns ALL things for good to those who love him. If you know that God is good, you can look with expected confidence that God’s goodness will show up for you. Those who hope in the Lord will never be put to shame. Hope will never disappoint you because the love of God is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5).

I speak the power of hope to rise up into every believing heart and I pray Romans 15:13 over every soul willing to agree today:

May the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace in BELIEVING, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in HOPE!

A word by Dana Jarvis

I decree you are making the spiritual journey from the bondage of Egypt into your promised land of destiny. I know you have grown weary. Do not let the murmurings and complaining attitudes rule you. It causes the faith to waiver! Your focus is upon the cup of bitter waters that you are currently drinking from.

Rest assured that your God is making these bitter waters sweet!

You shall taste and see that the Lord is good! You are going to see such extravagance in your daily life. He is delivering much into your hands so reach up and take hold. Just as he was with you before, he is with you now. You are going to drink deep of the Living Waters. The bitter waters of life have tried to steal all joy.

However I hear the Lord say, “It is done, I am the Lord who heals you. I am the Lord who will restore you. I am the Lord who will provide your every need. I am the One that is making the bitter waters sweet!”

I feel so strongly that God is removing your cup of bitter waters you have had to drink for so long. He is causing a turnaround for you in a situation that you desperately need him to move. I am speaking to several and know this word is for you. Even as the Lord led Moses and the children of Israel from their bondage at the Red Sea, it still took one step of faith. One step of faith is all it takes to cause a release from all of this. Take a moment and sow into good ground by giving into Spirit Fuel. For just a contribution of $25, $50, or even $100 or more given into Spirit Fuel is an active step and good ground on which to sow. It is a powerful ministry reaching the world for Christ. As you sow that offering, it is that act of faith that will cause the Red Sea where you are standing to part in your life. The bitter cup will be removed and the sweetness of the Lord shall begin to flow!
