As I awakened this morning, the Holy Spirit woke me up with an impression of a storm raging at sea. In the midst of the storm there was a single lone boat all by itself being tossed and thrown around by the waves mercilessly
As I looked upon this poor boat, being tossed about by ever swell from the ocean, because of the storm, my initial thought was that there was no way that the boat was going to survive the process of this Storm.
However, just as I was expecting the waves of the Storm were about to sink this vessel, Jesus Christ appeared upon the Bow of this Boat and I heard His Voice (even over the raging sound of the Storm) say, “PEACE COME, STORM BE STILL!”
The Wind immediately stopped blowing, the waves died down and the storm completely disappeared and the waters all around the boat were completely silenced by the Word of the Lord. As I saw this I said, “LORD, WHEN DID YOU GET ON THIS BOAT?” And He said, “I WAS ON THIS BOAT THE WHOLE TIME, BUT I DIDN’T SILENCE THE STORM UNTIL THE OWNER OF THE BOAT GAVE ME PERMISSION TO TAKE THE WHEEL!”
How many of us have found ourselves in the midst of the storms of this life and we have felt as though we are the only ones there? We feel all alone while we’re trying to ride out the storms swirling around us, but we forget as Christians that we’re not on the boat alone and that Jesus Christ is on board with us. The thing is that many of us think that He’s just a Passenger on board while He really needs to become Master of the Vessel!
So rather than allowing the Lord to become Master of our vessel, we attempt to ride out the storms on our own and it never quite works out the way wanted it to, whereas if we would completely turn over the Helm of our Life to Jesus Christ, HE WOULD ARISE AND COMPLETELY SILENCE THE STORMS NOT JUST TRY TO NAVIGATE US THROUGH THEM!
“And suddenly, behold, there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up by the waves; but He was sleeping.
And they went and awakened Him, saying, LORD, RESCUE AND PRESERVE US! WE ARE PERISHING!
And He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? THEN HE GOT UP AND REBUKED THE WINDS AND THE SEA, AND THERE WAS A GREAT AND WONDERFUL CALM.” Matthew 8:24-26
If you’re a Christian and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, then you’re not facing those storms you’re seeing alone! JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOUR BOAT RIGHT NOW, and if you allow Him to be the Master of your boat, He’ll steer you a course that’ll take you around the storms that the enemy tries to put in your path in the first place, instead of going through them.
If this morning you’re facing some storms in your life, know that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are in your boat with you (if you’re a believer) and He is not going to allow the storms that you are facing to sink you if you’ll just turn over the control of the Helm to Him. He’ll not only take control, He’ll show you what real Dominion looks like at the same time!
