Humility: Who is the King of Glory? – A Word by Steve Porter

on

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Psalms 24:-8-9

The Earth is the Lord’s and there is none higher than He! He is crowned with honor and grace. He has a name above all names, and every person ever born will ultimately bow their knee to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Their confession will be made known before men, for He is the essence of magnificence and splendor. He is the Beautiful one; there is no one higher.

Who is the King of Glory? When He breaks through the clouds, the majestic presence of the Lord fills that sacred space. When He stops moving the earth shudders. With just a look He makes the earth tremble. I can see Him turning His head now, clothed in a long robe with a wide, golden sash. Every tongue is silenced and a sense of awe fills the place at His presence as the train of His garment fills the holy place. His face is like the sun radiating a singular glory. Rays of brilliant light flash at the slightest gesture from His powerful hand. His hair is long and white like wool, and His eyes reflect a depth of love never before seen that’s visible when He looks at His beloved—you and me. Waves of gentleness and tender compassion move through the very atmosphere. His voice is like the roar of many waters, resounding with an unrelenting invitation to come and be part of the family, enjoying the love and goodness of God that cannot be quenched. (Hab. 3, Is. 6, Rev. 1)

All the earth is filled with His praise and rejoices in His awesome power. He has never been diminished in the least. He was there when the world began as He spoke creation into being and breathed life into His beloved—Adam and every human being born since. With a wave of His right hand the trees, rivers, and oceans were created. As He pinched the earth, mountains began to burst forth. He carefully designed the earth the way an artist would sculpt his masterpiece. He had much to accomplish in those first few days of creation, and it was marvelous. So let all creation cry out, saying, “The King of Glory Strong and Mighty!”

And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one LORD–his name alone will be worshiped. Zechariah 14:9

Who is the King of Glory?

Consider this: That same King of Glory—Jesus—stepped out of Heaven and into the gap to become a slave and made Himself of no reputation. He forfeited every divine privilege. “He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, He stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, He lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.”  (Phil 2: 5-8 MSG)

Dirty Feet and Clean Hearts

Do we see ourselves as the servant He was when He walked the earth? Even today He is our example, having taken up a servant’s towel and kneeling before the disciples. (John 13) What a lowly place the Lord chose to lead from. Their faces were astonished to see Him remove their sandals, revealing feet that walked through every kind of filth, covered with cracks, calluses and sores. But He didn’t turn away in disgust the way most people would have—rather He gently held their feet in His hands, while He washed, rinsed and dried them, as if it was a privilege—something He was honored to do. They could see His devotion reflected in the water bowl and couldn’t help but weep at such a sacrifice. Who were they to deserve such unselfish and humble service from the very King of the Universe Himself? In that instant, they had a newfound revelation—that while their feet were clean, their hearts had been transformed by the power of His love.

Walking in Christ’s humility

Sometimes we get so caught up in lofty titles, lavish lifestyles and self-promotion that we forget that Jesus never operated that way. In fact, we didn’t come to know Christ without bowing our hearts in humility, but many have since lost their way.

It’s important to remember that it doesn’t matter if people forget our names if they know and acknowledge the name of Christ. It is the King of Glory’s name that will change Heaven and Earth; it’s His name that transforms lives. It’s His name that will deliver a depressed soul from despair and set him on higher ground, filling him with a fullness of joy found only in His presence. So, the question is: do people see Him when they look at us?

God is seeking men and women who will hide behind the cross and not care who gets the credit—those who will get on their faces before God, to become what He had in mind when He created them. Humility and meekness speak to God’s heart of one who is willing, able and usable for God’s purposes instead of their own personal agenda.

“I am not seeking glory for myself”

He is seeking a new breed of leader among those who have learned to lose themselves in the overwhelming greatness of His redeeming love. They hide behind the cross and are content to stay there. They cry out, “I am not seeking glory for myself,” (John 8:50) but desire to be clothed in humility. They refuse to claim any special privileges, rather they willingly lay down their rights for a brand-new set of kingdom rules. “I am among you as one who serves.” (Luke 22:27) And God smiles at them because they are living out His very heart cry.

They are not pushy but live by this verse: “Don’t push your way to the front; sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.”  (Phil. 2:1-4 MSG) Instead they celebrate in serving others, letting themselves be Jesus with skin on.

I sense this word from the Lord today: “I’m looking for those who will once again get down on their faces before Me like they did when we first met, when their hearts were soft and tender, when they’d spend full nights on the floor weeping in desperate hunger, when they would fast and seek after God in the midnight hour. Will you return again to your first love, walking softly and humbly as you once did—lavishing Me with your praise and thanksgiving? Remember where I brought you from, and seek My face again, and I will lift you up, blessing and using you to move mountains in My name.”

To do this, we must follow in the footsteps of our sweet Master Himself. Even as He wore a crown and carried a towel, so should we come to serve, rather than to be served. This will require exalting Him and forgetting ourselves, waiting on Him for orders, and then moving in obedience without hesitation, motivated by passionate love that runs deep inside us, knowing His way is always the best way. Will you answer the high call to humility? As we humble ourselves before the Lord He will lift us high. People who are gentle, humble and kind often have a great ending no matter how insignificant they might seem or how small their start.

Who is this King of Glory? From out of the cloud, He emerges and His glorious presence fills the very atmosphere. When He stops moving the earth shudders. With a look, all the earth trembles before Him. Let’s join with all creation to cry out, “The King of Glory Strong and Mighty,” and bow in humble adoration before our beautiful Lord.

A Word For You Today

by Joel Yount

The Eagle And The Snake

Over a year ago while walking at a park an Eagle had flown right over me carrying what looked like a dead snake. The one thing that amazed me was how low the Eagle was flying as it flew above me. It was as if God was highlighting this occurrence that I had never experienced before.

Before seeing the Eagle and the snake, I had been walking around the park praying and declaring scriptures for breakthrough regarding a situation. Leading up to this time, it seemed as if there was an escalated season of attack from the enemy as someone had attempted to shut the Spirit Fuel website down. However, God stepped in and the individual responsible for that attempt did not succeed. Praise God!

Pay Attention To Signs God Reveals To You

God had stepped in many ways in only he could do. The escalated attacks had ceased. The Lord revealed to me that the Eagle had represented His power and protection coming down and taking the enemy (the snake) out of his place.

The Lord instructed me to send this testimony out today because He wants to remind many of you that nothing is hard for Him. He will send signs in the natural that relate to what is going on in the supernatural.

The prayers and declarations of saying scripture out loud at the park had activated something in the Spirit realm I believe. One important action I had taken before this event was sowing several seeds into different ministries. This act stretched my faith. When I saw what God did and how he turned the enemy’s plans upside down I was amazed. God is turning the enemy’s plans upside down in your own life today! Do something in the natural to activate the supernatural in your life today.

Right now I encourage you to sow a seed of $50, $35, or $25 into Spirit Fuel and name it “Breakthrough” as an act of faith that something will shift in your situation. Ask the Lord if there is a specific amount He would have you sow. By sowing a seed today into Spirit Fuel, you will be helping to reach more people on the internet for the Kingdom of God. It takes a dedicated team and resources to maintain the Spirit Fuel platform. I want to encourage 15 of you reading right now who want to go to the next level and take a step of faith and sow a seed of $100 or more. (Breakthrough testimonies have come in from this.)
