New Garments & Keys Are Being Released – A Word by Madeline James

Recently, I was up praying one night as we were getting ready to enter into February. When I was praying, I saw the month of February coming towards me. February was coming toward me and I noticed this garment attached to the month. As I saw this transpire, the Lord began to speak to me and tell me that He was releasing new garments over His people. It’s time for a garment change. Garments were particularly important during Bible times because, it distinguished a person. It told about who they were and what they did. In its simplest definition garments are a piece of clothing, something to cover or clothe with, a costume, a covering, and it provides protection from the elements (dictionary.com). A garment during that time signified class, dignity, respect, or lack of respect. A garment would display or mark someone with authority and function.

Garments are attached to seasons, mandates that commission us, and blessings that release favor. Sometimes we struggle in new or different seasons because we don’t have the right garments on. In a spiritual context, what you carry or what you’re clothed with is really a reflection of what is going on in the inside. They will mirror each other. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” What you carry on the outside will affect the inside, or what you carry on the inside will influence the what and how you carry your garments.

Here are some examples of garments in the Bible:

Priestly garments (Exodus 35:19)

Kingly garments (Esther 8:15, Acts 12:21)

Garments of salvation/righteousness (Isa 61:10)

Garments of praise/ mourning/heaviness (Isa 61:3)

Sackcloth-used for repentance (Gen 37:34

Unclean filthy garments (Zechariah 3)

Armor of God (Ephesians 6)

Clothed in Christ (Galatians 3:26-27)

These are just a few of the garments mentioned through out the Bible. Some things to remember as we continue on, garments reveal your mandate. Mandates are an official order or a commissioning with authority. Garments are also mantles. A mantle carries everything you need and the skills to accomplish the assignments. For example we see this in the story of Elisha in 2 Kings 2:13 says, “Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. 14 He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across.” Elisha received the mantle from his spiritual father. The blessing it carried and it enabled him to begin to walk out the calling on his life. When we stay connect we receive the mantle/blessing.

As we have stepped in 2022 we are in an Isaiah 22:22 season. Lets take a look at Isaiah 22:21-23 AMP, “And I will clothe him with your tunic [of distinction] and tie your sash securely around him. I will entrust him with your authority; He will become a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. 22“Then I will set on his shoulder the key of the house of David; When he opens no one will shut, When he shuts no one will open. 23 I will drive him like a peg in a firm place, And he will become a throne of honor and glory to his father’s house.”

To give a little more context to this passage, let’s look at the circumstances surrounding this passage. Earlier in Isaiah 22 the Lord begins to confront Shebna, the palace administrator. Shebna allowed pride to puff him up. This is what the Lord says to Shebna, “This is what the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, said to me: “Confront Shebna, the palace administrator, and give him this message:16 “Who do you think you are, and what are you doing here, building a beautiful tomb for yourself a monument high up in the rock? 17 For the Lord is about to hurl you away, mighty man. He is going to grab you, 18 crumple you into a ball, and toss you away into a distant, barren land. There you will die, and your glorious chariots will be broken and useless. You are a disgrace to your master!

19 “Yes, I will drive you out of office,” says the Lord. “I will pull you down from your high position. 20 And then I will call my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah to replace you (Isaiah 22:15-20 NLT).

I believe this is a prophetic picture of what is taking place in the body of Christ. There is a changing of guard taking place. Just like Shebna allowed pride to puff him and think he was like God, the Lord is dealing with those “Shebna’s” in the Body of Christ. We are in a season of promotion where the Lord is demoting the proud and raising up the humble, the “Eliakim’s.” in Hebrew Eliakim means God raises or God sets up. And in this season of promotion comes new garments and new keys. God is getting ready to openly reward those who have been diligently seeking him in the secret place and have remained pure (Hebrews 11:6).

Keys are prophetic tools of authority. Keys are individually and uniquely made unless you make a copy. Each key is made to carry a different pattern that can only fit a lock with the same pattern to unlock or lock. Pay attention to the keys and patterns the Lord is releasing to you in this time. The Lord is giving you access to release the patterns and blueprints of heaven and prohibit what’s not of God.

Not only is God releasing new garments and keys, He is also establishing you. Isaiah 22:23 AMP says, “I will drive him like a peg in a firm place, And he will become a throne of honor and glory to his father’s house.” To be established means to be founded, built, settled, installed in a permanent position, and to be prove true and valid (dictionary.com). The Lord has been allowing the warfare and opposition to come to strengthen and fortify you. To those who have been faithful and have remained humble, get ready for unexpected promotions. I declare and decree the Lord is going to establish you in such a way that no man or demonic force can remove you. You have been proven true in this hour, and you shall partake in the harvest from the seeds you have sown over the last few years. Embrace the new garments and keys the Lord is giving you and run with it. We are in a new season.
