Open Doors That Never Closed
A lot of prophetic words have been given at the beginning of 2014 that this is the year of open doors, open gates, and favor. God had also spoken to me about this year and He challenged me to increase my faith by stepping out and doing what He has called me to do with fervency like never before. I believe that this year is crucial for us as the body of Christ to accomplish what we have said “yes Lord” to in the past. With this being a year of open doors and open gates, why not take advantage of accepting all that God has for us especially since His favor rests on us.
Last Spring I was at a men’s ministry conference. During worship God gave me a vision of Jamaica and He told me to “go back in 2014”. The first time I went to Jamaica was in 2006 on a mission trip in Kingston. My life was impacted during that mission trip and I had longed and desired to go back since then. Now knowing that God told me that it’s time again in 2014, of course I was excited and filled with joy. Later that night during my devotional time I asked God, “Why now Lord? Why did you not send me back before?” His response was, “the door has always been open for you to go back, at any given time you could have returned to Kingston and my favor would have been with you”. God showed me that all this time I have been waiting on Him to send me back to Kingston, and here He was waiting on me to just go. I was waiting on a new door to open, but yet the original door had never closed. I’m now heading back to Kingston Jamaica in July 2014!
Revelation 3:7-8 (NIV) “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
How often do we pray for “new” doors to open when there are still “old” doors that have never closed? Imagine open doors that God have always intended for us to go through time and time again. Doors that never close and open portals where His favor and glory always remains! Imagine how many opportunities that could have been missed because of fear or waiting for that “right time” to be used by God. But yet all the while God is saying “the time is now!”
Thankfully we serve a God who also opens new doors for us. He loves to keep His relationship with us fresh and new every day. But it’s also important for us to go back to those places where the doors have remain open that He has called us to, and most importantly to go through the doors we have yet to enter in while they are still open.

I encourage you to step out in faith during this year of open doors. I pray that all fear and anxiety will be removed, and for the abundant joy of the Lord to rest upon you. God enlarge our vision and our heart to fulfill all that you have called us to do!
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Psalm 40:7-10 (NIV) Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.
