Planted in Honor
It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory (1 Corinthians 15:43).
There are some who have been badly beaten with word curses and false accusations by others. The time is now coming that those curses will be reversed and those who spoke the curses will see their sin and repent.
Shimei was from the house of Saul and he boldly cursed King David. “And as David and his men went along the road, Shimei went along the hillside opposite him and cursed as he went, threw stones at him and kicked up dust” (2 Samuel 16:13).
Even as this disgrace was happening, David did not allow his men to harm Shimei. Rather, he allowed him to continue to curse him. Because David had such a reverential fear of God, he believed that God himself had purposed for Shimei to curse him.
“But the king said, ‘What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the Lord has said to him, “curse David”. Who then shall say, “Why have you done so?” (2 Samuel 16:10).
David even repeats himself in this subject and confirms that God had chosen for him to be cursed.
Then in his humility, David said, “it may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and that the Lord will repay me with good for his cursing this day” (2 Samuel 16:12).
Even David seemed to understand the spiritual law of sowing and reaping. Because God so loved David, he purposed to give David honor.
Some of you have also been planted in honor. God has allowed men to curse your name and falsely accuse you. For some this has been a very long time of being buried in the dirt.
Just like Shimei, God will make all things right. At the end of this story, Shimei bows himself before David and repents of his sin.

“And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was about to cross the Jordan, and said to the king, “Let not my lord hold me guilty or remember how your servant did wrong on the day my lord the king left Jerusalem. Do not let the king take it to heart. For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore, behold I have come this day, the first of all the house of Joseph to come down to meet my lord the king” (2 Samuel 19:18-20).
You may have wondered all along, “God why has this happened?” The truth is, you were chosen and set apart by the Lord to be a display of his glory. You were chosen for honor. What is sown in dishonor is raised in glory.
Being buried deep in the dirt of lies and accusation will require the resurrection power of God. Only God can solve this problem and restore you. It is God who will shine his light on you.
Touch not my anointed. Throughout the history of David being pursued by Saul, even David understood the danger of touching the elect of God. David never dared to touch Saul. God will defend his anointed.
Some of you have had a Shimei in your life, who has walked along and cursed you and kicked up dirt. He has thrown stones and despised you. Not one thing has been hidden from the eyes of God. The word Shimei in Hebrew means “Yahweh has heard”.
God has heard every word and he is coming to defend you with his honor. “You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty” (Psalm 18:27).
You have endured long the suffering that you were chosen for. The grand finale is now coming, where God will display you as his own. Every amount of suffering will be restored for honor. What you have endured in pain, the opposite is what God has purposed for you. There will be no question of who you are, because the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Every lie leads to the truth and nothing can stop what the Almighty God has planned for you. In heaven you are known as the anointed of the Lord. For a time you have been covered in this darkness of dirt. Yet you were unaware that the darkness was causing the light to grow inside of you. The light is the glory of the Lord.
“I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars–I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you” Revelation 3:9.
It is time for the beauty of Jesus in you to be revealed. He will crown your head with his glory in the presence of your enemies. His glory will cover your head for all to see that you are his and that he loves you.
