Prime The Pump – A Word by Joe Joe Dawson

The Lord recently spoke to me in a corporate prayer meeting and said, “Prime the pump.” When God spoke this to me I was reminded of a water pump my grandparents had in their yard when I was a child. My grandparents had running water in their home but they also had an old-fashioned water pump that you could use by raising and lowering the handle. I remember using it as a little boy. I would always get impatient as I lifted and lowered the handle on the pump over and over again without seeing any water coming out. My grandfather would always encourage me to keep priming the pump, be patient and the water would come. I remember after priming the pump for a while then the water would begin to flow! Once the water began to flow, it was no longer hard to get water from the pump!
I believe this is a prophetic picture of many in the body of Christ today. You may feel impatient or even frustrated. You may feel as if you’ve been pumping for years without seeing anything come forth. I want to encourage you today, my friends, prime the pump!
God is calling many of His people to prime the pump prophetically! In the place of prayer, keep priming the pump! Even if you cannot see the water, keep pumping and priming until you see the water come forth. You may feel tired or frustrated waiting for the promises God has given you to come to pass, but keep priming the pump. Don’t stop or give up now, your breakthrough is coming! God is about to do everything He has promised you! When we are waiting on God to come through we must put our hands to the pump and get ready for His promises to flow in our lives.
What God has promised you and prophesied over you is like a well of water hidden beneath the surface. Breakthrough, miracles, and fulfilled promises are on the other end of the body of Christ priming the pump in the place of prayer. Just like with a natural water pump, it will take work and it will take effort but once the pump is primed there is nothing that will keep the water from flowing! Keep priming the pump because every promise and prophetic word will come to pass and fulfillment will begin to flow in this season.
This is a season for us to be fully committed to the place of prayer. This is an hour for the intercessors! God is speaking to His people to prime the pump of prayer and watch what happens! Many have given up on prophetic promises, prodigals, their dreams, and their destiny. Begin to pray over those things again. Keep praying, keep fasting, keep seeking! People of God, now is the time for each of us to prime the pump! Now is the time to go back to the pump and begin to pump again. Prime the pump again and watch what begins to flow!
