Resonating the Sound of Heaven by Cathy Sanders

cathy-blue2 (1)

Did you know that you are a receiver for the frequency of heaven? Just like a radio antenna receives certain sound waves when tuned to a channel, there is a spiritual channel that we can tap into in order to receive more of the presence of God flowing through our lives.

As a worship leader, it is very important for me to be in tune with the Holy Spirit, and not just when I minister but also in my daily life. Understanding how the Spirit works and is received by us is crucial for this to happen. To take a deeper look, I find the science behind how this happens in the natural to see how it corresponds in the spiritual realm. Everything that happens in the Spirit somehow manifests or can be illustrated through the natural realm.

 God Spoke

We all know that in Genesis God spoke all of creation into being, but did you realize that those first creative words spoken still echo today? When you look at the Hebrew translation for “Let there be light,” what He really said was “Light, exist!” God called it into being, and it came about instantly and continuously. I think it’s interesting that the first creative act was light being formed as a result of the spoken word. Science has proven that light is basically made up of wave patterns—sound waves! The scientific world has also made a discovery in recent years that proves the biblical account of creation. The basic foundational element of all matter, everything—even the hardest substance—is organized by frequency and vibration, by sound resonating at different levels.

“God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone” (John 1:3-4 NLT).

A few years back I was a guest in the home of a man who works in aerospace engineering, and he shared some groundbreaking studies they were doing where sounds were being captured by massive receivers in outer space. What they found was mind-blowing. The sounds they captured were actually echoes of explosions that had occurred in recent history. Those sounds did not just go past the ears of the hearers and die out, but they continued to reverberate in the atmosphere! Because of this study, some believe that every word ever spoken may be traceable one day.

So when God spoke creation into existence, those words never ended and they continue to resonate even today.

“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear” (Matthew 24:35 NLT).

The vibration of heaven is there, just waiting for a receiver to find it!

 In His Image

God created us in His image and likeness. This is a key element to understand when it comes to how God’s presence resonates in us, His creation. Human beings are the only creation that God breathed His own breath of life into; we are the only created thing that the Word says was created in His image.

“Then God said, ’Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us….’ So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:26, 27 NLT).

The word image is defined by Noah Webster as “an imitation, representation, or similitude of any person, thing, or act, sculptured, drawn, painted, or otherwise made perceptible to the sight; a visible presentation” (Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 1913 edition, s.v., “image”).

We are a visible presentation of God to the world. In this role, we are supposed to resonate with His Spirit to echo what He is speaking in a way that the world can receive Him.

“But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did” (1 John 2:5-6 NLT).

 In Tune with the Spirit

In music there is a phenomenon that occurs called sympathetic resonance. This happens when something that is not producing sound suddenly begins to vibrate because of an external vibration in the same frequency. We see this every day when windows rattle as a truck goes by or the drum set rattles when a certain note is played on a piano. Have you ever wondered why your chest vibrates when a car pulls up next to yours with very loud and low bass playing through their speakers? It has to do with the lower frequency found in your chest cavity that is similar to the bass frequency—sympathetic resonance!

There are multiple videos online of two tuning forks of exactly the same note mounted to wood blocks; one is struck and then muted, and because the two tuning forks were of the same frequency, that same tone can be heard vibrating in the tuning fork that was not struck.

If that second tuning fork was not of the same frequency, the sound would not resonate in it. In order for sympathetic resonance to occur, the two objects must share the same vibrational frequency.

There have been times while leading worship that God quickened my heart to either speak or sing something that I was not planning on. As I was feeling it out to make sure it was God, I could feel myself begin to tremble, and the feeling became so intense that I couldn’t not speak or sing what He was prompting me to.

Because we have been created in the image and likeness of God, we are the perfect receiver for His resonance to vibrate through us! When He speaks, the sound of His voice should resonate in our spirit. Then we echo His message to everyone around us! But if we are not in sync with the Spirit of God, we may not be able to portray Him correctly to the world.

 The Word: God’s Message

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT).

So how do we get in tune with heaven’s frequency? One main way is by studying the Word of God. The Bible is His message to the whole world, and it is our mandate from Him to echo His words to those who have not heard or who do not yet believe.

Some people feel like they need to get prayed for by a certain evangelist,  listen to hours on end of worship music, read every prophetic word by every well-known person each day, or get into some sort of spiritual frenzy to really hear God, when all along their Bible sits by—collecting dust. If they only realized the power in the Word, they would not search anywhere else!

As I mentioned before, I am a worship leader. I not only lead worship songs, but I am also a psalmist. God gives me new songs to sing or play every time I lead worship; they are composed right there on the spot. I know how powerful music is. I know how God can speak through worship. But worship should never replace the Word of God in your life!

This is why we hide His Word in our hearts, why we should study and know the Word—so when we have an opportunity to share it we are well-equipped. When I was young, I was in a competitive program called Bible Quiz where we would memorize portions of Scripture—many time whole books of the Bible—and then meet with teams from other churches to “quiz” against them. It was a fun way to memorize Scripture and recall it. To this day, Scriptures that I hid in my heart for the sake of a competition will come back to me when I need it. I can think of countless situations where I would not be ready to minister the Word had it not already been in my heart.

“The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it” (Deuteronomy 30:14 NLT).

 Resonating with Heaven’s Frequency

With God’s Word in a place if preeminence in our lives, we become ready receptors to receive the message that God wants to speak through us to the world. And when He does speak, we will know it. Our spirit will vibrate to the same frequency that His Spirit is speaking on, causing us to echo His message. The sound of heaven can resonate through you!

I challenge you today to be aware of the frequency that your mind and heart is tuned to. Is it tuned to God’s or to another channel that is feeding you the wrong message? If you are a worship leader, I encourage you to be aware of the message that God is trying to speak through your worship. Don’t be afraid to deviate from the natural course of a song to allow God’s creative resonance to move through you.

A word by Dana Jarvis

I decree you are making the spiritual journey from the bondage of Egypt into your promised land of destiny. I know you have grown weary. Do not let the murmurings and complaining attitudes rule you. It causes the faith to waiver! Your focus is upon the cup of bitter waters that you are currently drinking from.

Rest assured that your God is making these bitter waters sweet!

You shall taste and see that the Lord is good! You are going to see such extravagance in your daily life. He is delivering much into your hands so reach up and take hold. Just as he was with you before, he is with you now. You are going to drink deep of the Living Waters. The bitter waters of life have tried to steal all joy.

However I hear the Lord say, “It is done, I am the Lord who heals you. I am the Lord who will restore you. I am the Lord who will provide your every need. I am the One that is making the bitter waters sweet!”

I feel so strongly that God is removing your cup of bitter waters you have had to drink for so long. He is causing a turnaround for you in a situation that you desperately need him to move. I am speaking to several and know this word is for you. Even as the Lord led Moses and the children of Israel from their bondage at the Red Sea, it still took one step of faith. One step of faith is all it takes to cause a release from all of this. Take a moment and sow into good ground by giving into Spirit Fuel. For just a contribution of $25, $50, or even $100 or more given into Spirit Fuel is an active step and good ground on which to sow. It is a powerful ministry reaching the world for Christ. As you sow that offering, it is that act of faith that will cause the Red Sea where you are standing to part in your life. The bitter cup will be removed and the sweetness of the Lord shall begin to flow!
