Revival isn’t Coming
My whole life I’ve heard the church people (especially the Charismatic or Pentecostal people) talk about this thing called revival. Now for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term “revival”, let me give you a grid for this. Normally when someone is talking about wanting revival, what they really are wanting is to see people saved, see people healed, and set free from bondage. Great. What’s not to love about revival, right?
Now if you were to take a poll, asking “What is revival?” you would get some variations of what I described, but overall, most people seem to “Want to see God move mightily” or see “Sinners come to Jesus”. Great.
If you asked those same people about how to GET revival, you would probably find such a wide range of solutions, that it would leave you ready to bang your head on the wall. Especially if you’re hungry to see the dead raised, see people healed, and get saved. Here are some “keys to revival” I’ve heard over the many years of being in Charismatic Christianity:
- “Well we need to pray more.” So then we hold all night prayer meetings. Some pray loud. Some pray quiet. Some pray in tongues. Sister Tammy prays with a tambourine. Brother Billy yells and gets red in the face. Mother Betty sings in tongues. All because we need God to move. We’re not sure why, but someone said we just needed to pray more, and then we’d see a move of God. Why doesn’t God want to move?
- “What we really need is to cry out to God for forgiveness. Repentance. That’s what we really need.” So then the wailing and lamenting starts up. I’ve actually seen meetings where they set up a mic at the front, and people took turns going up to the front to confess their sins.
- Another would say that evangelism is the ticket to revival. Sometimes those are the folks who knock on people’s doors to let people know that they need to turn, or… well… you know….burn. I mean that’s the real gospel anyways, right? (hint: wrong)
I know there would be different variations and opinions, but those are some of the most rampant “formulas for revival” out there that I’ve seen.
I will say that revival isn’t my favorite term for these supposed “outpourings”. It just isn’t. People say “Send revival!” to God like He was ever withholding it in the first place. Many people, when they say they want revival, are thinking about the book of Acts. They’ll say things about the “good old days”, and that “old time religion”.
Let me share my feelings with you on “revival” (If we must use that term, which, it seems that we must).
It isn’t coming.
It’s already here. It’s been here all along. Revival isn’t some magical wand that God waves every few years so that people can do the biblical miracles that were done in the scriptures. Revival isn’t some emotional experience at a church service where people cry and wail loudly.
If revival is healing the sick, raising the dead, and walking in the miraculous….. Then it’s been here all along. You might be thinking, “Well I’ve been to church recently, and nothing supernatural happened. Don’t think so small. All over the world, we are seeing miracles. In Acts, 3000 people were saved in a day. In the world today, people are being saved every single minute. People are being raised from the dead. Creative miracles are happening. I’m literally not kidding. I have a few documentaries I would like for you to watch, if you are finding what I’m saying here to be far fetched or hard to believe: Finger of God, Holy Ghost, Furious Love, and Father of Lights.
Here’s a far fetched thought: what if I said, it is more accurate to consider YOURSELF to be revival, than it is to hide in your prayer closet praying and begging for God to send revival. I imagine the conversation to go something like this:
the Church: Send your fire, God. Send revival God!
God: I sent you.

the Church: Send the miracles, God. Raise the dead, God. Heal the sick, God.
God: I sent you to heal the sick, raise the dead, and do the miracles. I gave you my power. If you want to see the sick healed, go rebuke the sickness and use the power I gave you to command the sickness to leave. If you want to see the dead raised, then go use my power that I gave you to go raise the dead.
I believe the Father wants the Church to know that the ball is in her court.
Yes there are people all over the world realizing that revival isn’t some spontaneous, sovereign occurrence that God alone controls. Those people (including myself), are taking matters into their own hands. They are casting out demons, healing the sick, prophesying, moving by the very Spirit of God to do His will in the earth.
Although intercessory prayer is important, it cannot take the place of Christians actually using their God given authority to establish the Kingdom by dispelling darkness here on earth.
I also do not write this article in order to minimize the importance of repentance. I do, however, believe that many have greatly misunderstood what exactly repentance is. Repentance is when you change your mind. Eg: “God was right about this, but I’ve been believing a lie my whole life. I change my mind. I repent, and now I agree with God.” I think every believer should spend their whole Christian life repenting, because we will always be going deeper in our understanding. That’s what it means to renew your mind. I do write this to say that God isn’t waiting on us to repent in order to forgive us. God has already forgiven the sins of not just believers, but the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).
I believe the history books will read something different because you got a revelation that YOU are God’s hands and feet in the earth. If there ever was hope for a revival, you’re it. But you’re not alone. There are millions of christians like us in the world.
Together we will turn the world upside down. Share this article and help awaken the revival within your friends as well. Let’s start a revolution.
A TURNAROUND FOR YOU..
A word by Dana Jarvis
I decree you are making the spiritual journey from the bondage of Egypt into your promised land of destiny. I know you have grown weary. Do not let the murmurings and complaining attitudes rule you. It causes the faith to waiver! Your focus is upon the cup of bitter waters that you are currently drinking from.
Rest assured that your God is making these bitter waters sweet!
You shall taste and see that the Lord is good! You are going to see such extravagance in your daily life. He is delivering much into your hands so reach up and take hold. Just as he was with you before, he is with you now. You are going to drink deep of the Living Waters. The bitter waters of life have tried to steal all joy.
However I hear the Lord say, “It is done, I am the Lord who heals you. I am the Lord who will restore you. I am the Lord who will provide your every need. I am the One that is making the bitter waters sweet!”
I feel so strongly that God is removing your cup of bitter waters you have had to drink for so long. He is causing a turnaround for you in a situation that you desperately need him to move. I am speaking to several and know this word is for you. Even as the Lord led Moses and the children of Israel from their bondage at the Red Sea, it still took one step of faith. One step of faith is all it takes to cause a release from all of this. Take a moment and sow into good ground by giving into Spirit Fuel. For just a contribution of $25, $50, or even $100 or more given into Spirit Fuel is an active step and good ground on which to sow. It is a powerful ministry reaching the world for Christ. As you sow that offering, it is that act of faith that will cause the Red Sea where you are standing to part in your life. The bitter cup will be removed and the sweetness of the Lord shall begin to flow!
