The Absence of Fear
The absence of fear is knowing God’s personal and intentional love for us as his own. This also means knowing that his omnipresence surrounds us and protects us completely as we allow our trust in him.
When God spoke to Moses about delivering the Israelite children from bondage with his out stretched arm, he said his people never knew him as “LORD”.
“And God spoke to Moses and said to him, ‘I AM’ the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but my name ‘LORD’ was not known to them”(Exodus 6:3).
The use of the name ‘Lord’ in Hebrew implies a personal or covenant relationship. Knowing God as Lord is all about knowing him as intentional in his love towards us, while recognizing he is God. It also means the one true God, which speaks of his sovereign power.
Immediately after God revealed himself to Moses, he gave a promise to his children as an expression of his love. “I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an out stretched arm and with great judgements”(Exodus 6:6).
God chose Moses for the task of facing Pharaoh, knowing that Moses was tormented with fear. When God presented his plan to send Moses, he was angered by Moses’s fear and sought to kill him (Exodus 4:24).
As I meditated on why God was so angry at Moses for being afraid, he showed me that it was Moses looking at himself, instead of God. Moses pleaded with God about his ‘slowness of speech’, as he gave attention to himself. God then corrected Moses by reminding him that it was God that created the mouth of man.
I was completely paralyzed with a fear of man. Before entering into deliverance, God appeared to me and spoke to me. It was after that night that I knew him as a new name. He held my hand and started to walk with me into a place of love and trust. In all my life I had never trusted anyone and I was tormented through control and manipulation to fear man. But as I walked afraid, Jesus would surround me with himself and call out my name. He romanced me by showing himself as a personal Lord to me. I was courted by God for a very long time through his personal whispers of promise, love and deliverance.
During a church service there was an alter call to those wanting to make Jesus the Lord over all areas of their life. I knew that I had not made Jesus Lord over man or fear. As this call was offered, I began manifesting very strong spirit of fear and I was completely trembling and afraid, as a little child in a cold and dark room.
As I laid my heart before God and repented for the idols of fear and man, a woman laid hands on me and prayed. As she prayed over me the spirit of fear was lifted off and I was covered in a blanket of God’s protection and peace.

Deliverance begins in the heart. It’s about laying down the idols of our heart and choosing to trust God as our everything.
The enemy wants you to look at yourself, but God wants you to look not at yourself, but to him. He shall Glory! Before Moses was even born, God placed inside him courage. Courage means, “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere and withstand fear danger and difficulty”. Just like a hard shell, that beauty was covered by the enemy with fear.
What the enemy has called you is the opposite of what God has planted in you. Moses had to walk through his fear.
After Moses set himself to look not at himself, but at the Lord, the shell of fear was broken off and Moses blossomed to be all that God created him to be.It was after walking through the fear in complete reliance on God that Moses came to the point where his face shown with the Glory of God through the personal relationship they had together.
“and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the LORD”(Exodus 34:35).
Some are calling on the Lord today for deliverance, provision and miracles. You are overwhelmed by the fear as you see the mountains of circumstance. God is saying for you to let go. Let go of every worry and fear and claim him Lord over ALL. Look up to the heavens and upon him who created all things. The one who created the stars and the sun is the one who knows every single detail about you. With an everlasting love he is calling you with plans to rescue you. Look to him. You cannot cross the red sea by looking at the waters. Neither can you slay a giant by looking at yourself. It is in your weakness that his power is the best. Rely on him and look completely to him.
Let this be an alter call today. As you begin to lay down anything in your life that sets itself above God, I pray that the treasures God has placed inside of you will begin to emerge and the shell of the enemy would be broken off. Lord, I pray that you would reveal your intentional love to every heart. Let every face shine from the glory of God from the inside out, in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ, AMEN.
