The Healing Seed – When Healing Isn’t Instant
I love to travel and minister, so when I received an invitation to speak at a church near Columbus, I was elated, as usual. I felt great anticipation inside as I drove to the meeting. When I got there, I entered the building and glanced around. The room was filled with smiling, chattering people. It did not take me long to feel right at home.
There was a strong presence of God during the praise and worship time, and I felt the freedom of the Spirit in the room. This is going to be a great meeting, I thought.
After I was done preaching, I gave a word of knowledge for healing of neuropathy in feet. It was simply an impression in my spirit that God wanted to heal that condition. I asked anyone in the room who had neuropathy to come to the front. I don’t remember how many came up, but I do remember three people vividly.
I had already preached the Word showing that healing was paid for by Jesus when He went to the whipping post. I also had shared stories of other cases of neuropathy that I had seen healed, and the various ways that I had seen healing manifest. Finally, I reminded the group that miracles are instant, but healing is sometimes gradual. I wanted people to continue to believe for healing, even if there was not an instant manifestation.
I walked up to the first man and commanded the neuropathy to go. I said, “Check it out. Is the pain less, the same or more now?”
In response, he began to stomp his feet as hard as he could, saying with a smile, “I don’t feel any pain or numbness anymore at all. It is all gone.”
Then I prayed for another man with neuropathy in his feet. I asked, “Is anything happening that you can tell?”
He said, “Not that I can tell. Everything seems to be the same.” I reminded him to keep thanking God for healing him and went on to the next person.
Last of all, I prayed for a woman with neuropathy. I asked her the same thing that I had asked the others. “How do your feet feel now? Is there any difference?”
She answered, “I can’t tell any difference right now, but I KNOW that I am healed. Praise God! He is faithful!” Faith and confidence resonated in her voice as she continued to thank God for her healing.
About an hour later, I walked out of the meeting with a spring in my steps. Joy surged through my heart. Thank You, Lord, for touching these people. You are wonderful. I am so blessed to be a part of this, I thought.

As I was walking to my car, I heard a man shout, “Hey, Sherry!”
I looked around, and I saw that it was the man I had prayed for with neuropathy in his feet who had not seen any change after I prayed. From across the parking lot, he shouted, “Hey, my feet feel pretty good!” He had an amazed smile on his face. At a later date, the pastor confirmed to me that he had been completely healed. The neuropathy was gone, and it never came back.
I went back to that church a month later to conduct another meeting. A woman raised her hand and asked, “May I share a testimony?”
“Sure,” I answered.
She said, “Last month, I received prayer for neuropathy in my feet, but nothing happened.” Then she added, “But I KNEW that I was healed. Several weeks ago, I was out shopping and I noticed something. My feet did not hurt! I had no numbness in them anymore. I don’t even know when the healing manifested, but it did. I’m healed! Praise God!” The room erupted with loud clapping and praise to God. We all rejoiced with her that day.
I love it when healing is instant. Sometimes, however, healing is more gradual or it is delayed. It is important to continue believing the Word in spite of what you see in the moment. Healing is like a seed that is planted in the ground. It has to grow up. When the seed has been planted through healing
ministry, don’t dig it up through unbelief. Instead, continue to thank God for the manifestation of the healing.
Lord, as people read this, cause Your POWER to go through them and drive out all neuropathy. In Jesus’ name, nerves be healed! Pain and numbness, go! In Jesus’ mighty name, amen
