The Image- Bearers
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you think that the person you see in the mirror is rejected of the Father? It’s time to think again.
I have recently written a book called “Everyday Miracles”. Although I have not gotten the books in the mail yet, I have seen the cover. The strangest emotions swept over me as I looked at that cover – joy, amazement, and fulfillment. I knew that I would treasure my book forever. The reason for these emotions is simple. That book is filled with my journey with God, my experiences in Him, my joys, and so many ways the Lord has surprised me. It tells the story of my amazing Father who is willing to work through imperfect people and perform miracles through them. It is a part of me; it’s OUR story – Father God’s story and my story. In a sense, it bears my image in connection with the glorious image of God. You may have felt that emotion when you painted a picture or made a sculpture – it is an expression of you.
As I pondered that thought this week, the Lord began to speak to me. He said, “That is how I see my creation. I chose the colors for earth. I put the precious gems in the ground that I have all around Me. I placed the trees, water, and grass in place because I enjoy those things. However, most of all, that is how I see people. I made them in my own image. They bear my image, and they are precious to me.”
Genesis 1:26 says this in the Amplified version: “Let us (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.”
In the Hebrew mind, the word “image” did not mean that mankind physically looked like God; it meant that man was a representative of God’s function! Wow! God put us here to represent Him in all that we do and to function as He functions. He conferred on us the ability to create (although not from nothing), rule over this earth, and to love as He does. He left us to take dominion over the works of darkness and to stand in His stead.

Did mankind lose the image of God when they fell? Not according to Genesis 9:6 which states, “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed. For in the image of God, He made man.” Even after the fall, man still had God’s image, and therefore, his life was and is precious. James 3:8, 9 similarly tells us that we should not curse men who are made in the image of God. Every person that you see each day is precious to God because they are made in HIS image. It goes even farther than that. God so highly valued mankind that He freely gave Jesus for them – for us! People are doubly precious to the Lord!
Our lives are not meaningless. We are here to represent the Father, to rule and to reign with Him, and to be a bridge between Him and the people that He loves. Our God is a warrior God, and He wants us to represent Him well as we bring down the works of the enemy in lives around us. He is also a loving God. He wants us to represent Him well in loving those around us.
The next time you look in the mirror, remember that you bear Almighty God’s image. You are His image- bearer. You are precious to Him, and YOU, my friend, have a purpose on this earth. Go with the power of the Holy Spirit and enforce HIS victory on the cross over oppression and sickness. JUST GO!
A TURNAROUND FOR YOU..
A word by Dana Jarvis
I decree you are making the spiritual journey from the bondage of Egypt into your promised land of destiny. I know you have grown weary. Do not let the murmurings and complaining attitudes rule you. It causes the faith to waiver! Your focus is upon the cup of bitter waters that you are currently drinking from.
Rest assured that your God is making these bitter waters sweet!
You shall taste and see that the Lord is good! You are going to see such extravagance in your daily life. He is delivering much into your hands so reach up and take hold. Just as he was with you before, he is with you now. You are going to drink deep of the Living Waters. The bitter waters of life have tried to steal all joy.
However I hear the Lord say, “It is done, I am the Lord who heals you. I am the Lord who will restore you. I am the Lord who will provide your every need. I am the One that is making the bitter waters sweet!”
I feel so strongly that God is removing your cup of bitter waters you have had to drink for so long. He is causing a turnaround for you in a situation that you desperately need him to move. I am speaking to several and know this word is for you. Even as the Lord led Moses and the children of Israel from their bondage at the Red Sea, it still took one step of faith. One step of faith is all it takes to cause a release from all of this. Take a moment and sow into good ground by giving into Spirit Fuel. For just a contribution of $25, $50, or even $100 or more given into Spirit Fuel is an active step and good ground on which to sow. It is a powerful ministry reaching the world for Christ. As you sow that offering, it is that act of faith that will cause the Red Sea where you are standing to part in your life. The bitter cup will be removed and the sweetness of the Lord shall begin to flow!
