The Lifter Of My Head – A Word by Elaine Rice

The Lord is continually revealing truths to us if we care to tune in to hear His voice. It’s been said many times that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason – that we are to listen more than what we speak. I’ve found this to be true in my own spiritual journey.

This morning as I was getting ready for the day, I felt the Lord reminding me of a verse in Psalms and the experience of that revelation that He forever wrote on my heart a few years ago.

I was out for my daily walk basking in sunshine of the morning and also basking in the Sonshine of His presence. As was my habit, I was walking and talking with my Heavenly Papa. He gently spoke to my heart (not an audible voice, but in the still small voice) to stop. I obediently stopped and stood still.

I sensed to look up and saw His hand come towards me out of the heavens. I closed my eyes and He gently put His index finger under my chin and raised my head to His face as a natural father may do with a child. I could feel the heat of His presence on my face.

He began to speak to my heart. I AM the glory and the lifter of your head. You have absolutely no reason to walk with your head down. You are My daughter and I AM proud of you.

He began to teach me to walk with my head up in the natural. To be watchful and alert to my surroundings. To walk with confidence. To walk with boldness and purpose. To walk as royalty, as His daughter. To walk knowing that His presence surrounds me like a shield, that His glory surrounds me. To walk knowing that my Papa loves me and is proud of me.

I would like to tell you that I began to walk with my head up immediately, but it took quite awhile and many gentle reminders from Holy Spirit to walk as my Father has taught me to walk.

Learning how to walk in the natural causes us to know how to walk in the spiritual. To walk in His power and authority everywhere we go. (It is a process.)

David spoke these words to God even as he was fleeing from his son, Absalom: But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. (Psalm 3:3 AMPC)

I sense today that there are those in the Body of Christ who are walking with their (spiritual) heads down. And I believe the Lord wants each one of His children to allow Him to be the lifter of their heads.

Father, we come to You now in the name of Your Son, Jesus and ask that You reveal Yourself to us as the lifter of our heads. That we would sense Your glory and Your presence around us as a shield. That each one would hear You saying, I am proud of you! Father, raise us up to be the sons and daughters that You have created us be. That we will walk like Jesus with the power and authority that You have given us. Thank You for revealing a part of Yourself with us.
