And David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue after this band? Shall I overtake them?” He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake and shall surely rescue.”

And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men, who mounted camels and fled. David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and David rescued his two wives. Nothing was missing, whether small or great, son or daughters, spoil or anything that had been taken. David brought back all.  1 Samuel 30:8,17-19

The Holy Spirit whispered two simple yet powerful words to me recently, “Recover all”. During a Sunday morning worship time, He shared His heart with me on what it means to recover all. I heard the Lord say,

“I want the church to recover all. Recover the sound. Recover the vision. Recover the call to come up higher. Recover those things perverted by the enemy for his kingdom. Recover the wind. Recover the longing for your First Love. Recover holiness and reverence. Recover humility and indignity. Recover it all, your passion, your pursuit of Me. Recovery is the return to a state once present. Return to Me. You will recover all when you return to Me.”

I could feel the heart of God on this matter as He revealed it to my heart. This was not about recovering a physical or personal possession. This was about returning to Christ, the Source of our being. It was a Kingdom mandate. It was a marching order to reclaim what had been taken, and to go with the understanding that when we seek His way on the matter, we have been commissioned and sent to recover all.

This is a Kingdom recovery

David recovered all. We know this story very well. King David arrived to Ziklag, only to find his wives and the wives and children of his men missing. The city lay burned and in ashes, all at the hands of the Amalekites. David strengthened himself in the Lord despite the threats of the people, and he sought direction from God. The Lord guaranteed David that he would overtake the enemy, and he would recover all. We find later in the account that David did in fact recover all. Nothing was missing.

This was a kingdom recovery for David, extending beyond himself and the borders of Ziklag to his people. It benefitted those who fought and those who stayed behind due to exhaustion. It was a finished work ordained by God. This kingdom recovery is a type and shadow of recovering all for a far greater Kingdom, a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, and a completed work capable only through Jesus Christ.

Surely you shall recover all

Recovery is the return to a state once present. What would it look like if the church walked in such a manner that nothing was missing from the body?Participation to recover requires us to be present in His Presence. We must be willing to overcome the powers of darkness and take back what rightfully belongs to us as coheirs in Christ. Recovery starts on a personal scale, but with the heart of the Father, it becomes a corporate mandate, a Kingdom mandate.

This mandate includes repossessing those things stolen and perverted by the devil for his gain, things that originated in the Kingdom of God. The people of God perish for a lack of knowledge when we willingly credit the devil for such things as meditation, contemplative prayer, and the supernatural. His perversion was not the original version.  The enemy is incapable of creating anything. He merely contorts what was God’s all along. It is time to recover it all!

Though the enemy manipulates concepts and usurps upon the church’s domain, he does not own the patent on the supernatural or the Creator’s original blueprint. Christ made a spectacle of the devil, and He has given us authority to recover that state once present among the people of God. Imagine what would happen if we lived out the revelation that we oppose a defeated foe, and we are guaranteed a full recovery.

Recover the plunder

Saints, you are kings and priests before the High Priest, Jesus Christ. You are the tabernacle of the Holy Spirit, and though there may be ashes displaying the presence of the enemy, the commission is clear when our strength is in Him. This is a personal and a corporate commission. This is a Kingdom recovery.

The orders have been issued- go into all the world, the place where the enemy likes to steal, kill and destroy, and minister the abundant life of Christ. Go to that place where the enemy has kidnapped generations and their identity. Go to that place where your spouse or your family has been taken captive by the enemy. Go into the land where sickness and bondage tries to burn down your house or the house of those around you.

Go and recover the sound and the vision. Recover the beauty of holiness and reverence for the Lord. Lose your dignity to gain His glory. Recover what the enemy plundered, and don’t you dare forfeit what rightfully belongs to the Kingdom of God.  Though there has been loss, the Lord makes a way to recover all. Go with confidence, knowing that you are mandated to pursue by the Lord Himself, and a Kingdom recovery is at hand.
