The Perfect Will of God – A Word by Dr. Bob Allen

It had been several years since I met the Lord in a real and personal way. I was at home alone, and it was a cold and rainy day. I decided to find a prayer closet for some serious prayer time. I spent the day seeking the Lord.
My wife and I had planned to go out to dinner later in the evening, so I took an early shower. I turned the hot water on first, and as I put one foot into the shower, the Lord spoke to me in a clear, loud voice. I heard His audible voice. He said,
“This is the will of God.”
I stood at attention. The Lord let me just stand there for the longest time with the hot water splashing on my leg. I was afraid to move because I had been seeking His will for years! I must have been praying about that in the prayer closet all day although I am not certain. Of course, I was as excited as I believe anyone could be hearing the voice of the almighty God! I thought He was about to unfold all of His answers; I had so many quetions. I thought He was about to tell me His will, and that He would tell me everything. After letting me stand there for a while, He said,
“BELIEVE ON HIM WHOM HE HAS SENT.”
When the Lord said those words to me, I was stunned. As wonderful as it is to hear the voice of God, I thought I would hear things like, “You are going to save the world,” or “You’re my man,” or “You are doing well,” or something along those lines. I was hurt and disappointed. I thought I already believed; I already knew this, however, I had learned over the years that God does not speak or visit for nothing. Therefore, I began to do some research on the will of God and found myself studying the Book of John,
John chapter 6, I was looking for those words, “This is the will of God.” I found it in verse 29, “Jesus answered and said to them, and ‘This is the work of God that you believe in Him whom He has sent.'”
John 6:29. I knew that the Lord said to me, “This is the will of God,” not the work. Do you know my friend that Father’s work is to make sure that someday you will come to Him, and be with Him forever? You are special, you are loved and you need to know it. The disciples asked Him for a sign. “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do?”
In John 6:30 they said that Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat, a sign. However, look further.
John 6:32-40 “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.'”
His will for you my friend is that you would believe ever word that proceeds out of His mouth. This is what our loving, wonderful Father asks of you.
Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
Jesus answered them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. However, I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, That of all He has given Me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up AT THE LAST DAY.”
That my friend would be you. Listen to me now if you will come in all the way, and believe on His own Son whom He sent to you, then He can channel every need you will ever have into your life.
Our Father’s greatest work was to get Jesus to earth to redeem you. This is who you really are if you are His. If you are in the kingdom of God, you then are of the family of God. You are a brand new self; just as if you had never sinned. There is nothing in the Book against you. You are now of the God kind of person.
Jesus said, “…and this is the will of Him who sent Me that all that He has given Me I should lose nothing. My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have everlasting life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:38-40
When the Lord spoke to me about the Father’s will, He was saying that Jesus is the Father’s perfect will for all of us. Knowing this is the greatest blessing. All of Father’s work that He will ever do will be done through the One whom He has sent, His precious Son The Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you can see this. If you belong to the family that makes up the Kingdom of God, then He has given the Lord Jesus the responsibility of keeping you and securing you. He does not want to lose you; He wants to raise you up. Jesus said we are children of the Father; He created us for His pleasure.
Revelation 4:11 KJV, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure, they are and were created.”
The Lord created you for Himself because He wants you. Now you are twice His. When we fell into sin, the Father’s work was to buy you back with the price of the body and blood of His own Son Jesus Christ. Moreover, we are those who Jesus is to keep safe until we are raised up. Imagine the value He places on us! We were bought with His real and precious blood. Think that over. The thing purchased always has more value than the price paid in the eyes of the purchaser. In this case, it is of course you. Think about it. Your Father has placed you in the hands of His own Son Jesus. Now Jesus has zipped locked you in, you are vacuum packed, sealed, and safe in His arms. You are covered forever.
Think about the work of God. Now we can know just when we will be raised up. Jesus said four times in John 6 that He would raise us up at the last day. I do not know that He ever confirmed something four times in one chapter! We know without a doubt when we will be raised up, and we know that Jesus will keep us until that very last day. He said it Himself repeatedly. John 6 could be the most complete chapter in the whole Bible about the work and the will of the Father. He sent the Lord Jesus to save us, then keep us, and then bring us home to the Father at the last day.
John 17:4 Jesus said, “I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave Me to do.”
What about you my friend, are you working for the Master, are you doing your part? If not, let me give you a starting place. Jesus said, to the Apostle Paul, Acts, 26:18 “Open their eyes, and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God.” He said to the Apostle Peter, “If you love Me feed My sheep.”
