The Power of Your Seed
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. 22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. -Genesis 8:20-22
Sowing and reaping is a principle taught throughout God’s Word. Before you keep reading or disregard this article… it has nothing to do with getting your money. The purpose of this blog is to bring revelation to the Body of Christ because the harvest that you have in your life is a result of the seeds you have sown.
What is a seed? A seed is your time, your talents, your treasures, your actions, and your words.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” -Luke 6:36-38
A lot of preachers like to pull this verse out of context when they receive tithes and offerings. This passage has nothing to do with money. It has to do with judging others and forgiveness. Nevertheless, the principle of sowing and reaping is evident in this passage.
If you sow judgment, then you will reap judgment. If you sow bitterness, then you will sow bitterness. If you lies, then you will reap lies. It’s how it works. Whatever you sow will come back to you multiplied.
Recently, I had a dear friend share with me… if you sow into ministries that cause discord, teach bad doctrine, and those that bring division to the Body of Christ, then you will reap the same in your life. God longs to unify His body.
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. -Psalm 133:1-3
If your relationships aren’t unified, then their are seeds that you have planted that aren’t good. It is time to repent.
What about money?
God has promised to give you all you need (Philippians 4:19).
I believe that a lot of Pastors are forcing their congregations to give and use fear to open up their wallets and check books. This is wrong and totally unbiblical. The Bible says, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully’.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 Pastor’s shouldn’t depend on what comes in the offering plate. A church that is being led by a Pastor who is a good steward should be leading the way in generosity. However, it is important for a church to support their Pastors. A church that doesn’t support their pastors doesn’t deserve their Pastors. It isn’t the job of the board to “keep the pastor humble.” Honor your pastors. When you give someone money you are honoring them.
A church that is isn’t producing fruit (and we will talk about that in a second) is really not a good place for you to plant your seed. Every believer needs to be connected to a life-giving church.
Some signs of a dying church are… to many funerals, trouble with finances, laying off staff members for financial reasons, division, and a history of multiple church splits.
Some signs of a healthy vibrant church are baby dedications, weddings, practical ministry outreaches, salvations, healings, deliverances, and numerical growth.
What about para-church ministries? Don’t support ministries that are out to judge and expose other ministers. Especially those who tear apart non essential theological views. Any minister that uses the pulpit to put down another minister who they don’t know doesn’t deserve to minister behind the pulpit. The secret is to keep Jesus at the center. Self appointed people who like to correct everyone like to fling shame and blame on others. What they don’t realize is that what they are saying is hurting the body of Christ not just those they long to humiliate and expose. Many of them are wounded themselves and need inner healing.
Be very careful if you sow into ministries that have caused division, destroyed marriages, and have a history for being financially irresponsible. How can you tell if you have sown into a ministry like that? Do some research. Examine the fruit in the peoples lives who are connected to that ministry. How do they carry themselves?

Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. -Matthew 7:17
Examine your own fruit first. Some people are stuck in toxic relationships with toxic people and toxic places its no wonder your life is the way it is. It may be spiraling out of control… examine where you planted your seed recently.
Look at the timing around when things got out of control. Trace your seed! It isn’t God punishing you or teaching you a lesson. God loves you and He wants to see you blessed!
If you are stuck, broke, busted and disqusted I have some good news for you. You can sow your way out of anything!
Start by sowing into the right places! Don’t eat your seed!
You are not where you are in life for no reason. Your life is a sum total of the seeds you have sown. Let’s talk about how to sow a seed into good ground.
- Sow where the glory of God is present.
- Sow the seed—Put God’s Word into your heart by finding scriptures on whatever issue you are dealing with (Psalm 34:10; Jeremiah 1:12).
- Water the seed—Read the scripture, write it down, confess it, speak it to others, dream about it, and out of your your heart will come your prosperity.
The Lord told me any reading this article are in need of a financial breakthrough. Pray with me:
Prayer For Financial Breakthrough
Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and the sins of my forefathers. Let all transgressions and iniquities be cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
Right now, I break every spirit of poverty on my life in the name of Jesus. No devourer will destroy the fruit of my labor. I break every curse of failure and lack in the name of Jesus
I repent for any breaking of covenant with You, LORD. I ask and receive forgiveness for disobedience and touching anything that is holy to You in the name of Jesus.
Let the rod of iron fall on any strange money that has passed through me in the name of Jesus.
I decree and declare, I am blessed of God!
I break myself loose from the bondage of stagnancy and lack in the mighty name of Jesus! I am created to be fruitful and to multiply, to fill the earth and subdue it. I have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
Every curse of poverty, barrenness, unproductiveness, and ineffectiveness is broken off me in the name of Jesus! I am fruitful! The blessing of the LORD overtakes me!
In Jesus name! Amen!
