The Princesses Wardrobe – A Word by Kristina Powell

I am not sure about you, but I love to add new clothing to my wardrobe. Whether purchased from a department store or a thrift store, a yard sale, or a hand me down; it’s new to me. A new to me article of clothing can make me feel like a million bucks! Have you heard the saying, “if you look good, you feel good?” It’s amazing to me what an article of clothing can do for self-esteem.

The spiritual garments we wear have the ability to do the same thing. Do you know that you are clothed with the robe of Sonship? You are a daughter of the king! Imagine if we actually walked this earth recognizing that. Your heavenly father has robbed you, he has claimed you as his. He has placed a crown upon your head, given you treasures of his kingdom and riches of your inheritance. He has crowned you with love and tender mercy (psalms 103:4), and the humble he crowns with victory (psalms 149:4). You are crowned with everlasting joy, and you will be filled with joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11). You have been given a crown of beauty, for ashes, a joyous, blessing, and festive praises (Isaiah 61:3).

You are a princess, yet you walk around with an attitude of old drab. Day in and day out, we choose garments that do not reflect that of a princess.

The enemy would have you to believe that the only choices you have are: Despair, hopelessness, morning, guilt, shame, poverty, defeat, depression, and weariness, just to name a few. He wishes to blind your spiritual eyes to the wardrobe that truly belongs to you. Why? Because if you cover yourself in the knowledge of who you are in Christ, you will no longer identify with the heavy affliction of the garments you once wore; the enemies wardrobe will no longer fit you. Shame cannot cloak you, despair cannot cover you, and guilt cannot cling to you. You will discover the “YOU” that God created you to be! Psalms 139:16 tpt says, “you saw who you created me to be before I became me”.

Are you letting the enemy pick your clothing? Let’s look at some of the things we have in our wardrobe that the enemy does not want you to discover. Joy, strength, dignity, truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, peace, protection, stability, and the presence of the Lord; those are the things in the princesses wardrobe!

Psalms 30:11 NLT says, “you have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy that I might sing praises to you, and not be silent. Proverbs 31:25, she is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. (Replace “she” with “I”, now that’s powerful)!

Galatians 3:27 put on Christ like putting on new clothes. (Christ covers us and gives us a new identity). Ephesians 6 is the armor of God: The belt of truth, the breast plate of righteousness, shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God, and shoes of peace. Each piece provides protection, and the ability to stand your ground.

Isaiah 61:10 NLT, “for he has clothed me with the cloths of his saving power (salvation). He has put around me a coat of what is right and good (righteousness). Romans 13:14, “clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Each day, each minute, each moment, and in each circumstance; you get to choose what you will put on. Dress for the occasion, the moment has arrived!

Zechariah 3:3-4, “filthy clothes exchanged for fine new clothes”. (removal of sin and guilt). Romans 13:12, “remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living”.

We get to choose, so again I ask, are you letting the enemy pick your clothing for you? I challenge you today to choose from the wardrobe that is rightfully fit for the princess that you are. Out with the “old”, and step into your true identity.
