I love the many faceted ways that the Lord speaks to and through His people. I believe He is continually speaking to us; we just need to have ears to hear.

Recently, my husband surprised me with a purple heart pendant. My birth month is February, and the birthstone is amethyst (not to mention that purple is one of my favorite colors).

Later in the day I felt the Lord was saying that He was giving me a “Purple Heart.”

This is not to take away from any military Purple Heart recipient, but as I pondered this and conversed with the Lord about it, there is a spiritual significance to this for many in the body of Christ.

A quick internet search produced this from Wikipedia.org: “The Purple Heart (PH) is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving.”

I believe the Lord was sharing that not only was He giving me a purple heart, but that there were many recipients across the globe. Our Commander-in-Chief, King Jesus, is personally awarding many in the body of Christ the spiritual Purple Heart.

The battles endured for the sake of the Cross have been at high personal cost to many believers. The wounds of spiritual battles have been very deep and at times, some have even wondered if they would survive.

There have been those who have been wounded by betrayal, persecution, and many kinds of hardship. There is not one battle that the Lord has not seen. There is not one word spoken against His children that He has not heard. There is not one hurtful deed done that has gone unnoticed. And there has not been one cry for help that He has not heard.

Psalm 56:8 NLT says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

He is, in this season, giving honor to whom honor is due. (Romans 13:7)

He has already given everyone a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) and He is rewarding those who have not wavered in their faith. He is rewarding those that seek Him out. He is rewarding those who have not given up and have stayed the course no matter the cost to self. (Hebrews 11:6)
