The Watchmen and the Geese – A Word by Vince Viozzi

Vince Viozzi

Email: vvministries@outlook.com

I was camping recently with my wife. We were at a State Park with a big lake that had some “resident” geese hanging around. As I was approaching them one evening, suddenly One of them left out a loud vocal warning “Honk” and the next thing I saw was incredible! All of a sudden, the lead goose took off and the others followed suit in their typical “V” formation, and landed in the lake nearby. It was just an awesome sight to see and experience. The leader sounded the alarm and the rest responded so quickly!

This was interesting to me because the Lord had already been speaking to me about the season we are in and had paralleled the watchmen with the geese.  When the geese fly they assume a “V” formation with one goose at the head of the “V”. However, after a certain amount of time, for whatever reason, the lead goose will move back and another one will take its place at the front. What an awesome display of teamwork in leadership! Right now I feel that God has put the Watchmen at the head of the flock.

The Season of the Watchmen

I am sharing this because I believe the Lord has said, “It’s the season of the watchmen!” At this Kairos time in history there are many important things taking place and it is critical that we hear from The Lord corporately so we can effectively navigate our way through this present crisis. That is why God has given the prophetic gift of the watchmen. In biblical times the watchmen were strategically placed on the walls of a city to keep watch and sound an alarm when they saw danger approaching. These watchmen were so important that God gave Ezekiel a stern warning concerning his gift as a Prophetic Watchman! In Ezekiel 3:16 – 21,

Ezekiel 3:17 (NKJV) 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore, hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:”

During this discourse The Lord made it very clear that the watchman had a very important job and responsibility to the rest of His people. If he did not take that responsibility seriously, then God would hold him accountable for the consequences of not sounding the alarm and giving the warning!

Don’t Shoot the Messengers

These are words of wisdom. In the bible many prophets were killed because they were given an unpopular message to deliver. See Matt. 23:31-36

God told Ezekiel that the watchmen are responsible to tell the people what He is saying! Whether or not they want to hear it! The messenger is only relaying the message he or she was given. A warning message is meant to alert us to a danger that is approaching. It does not necessarily secure the outcome of that crisis situation though! One instance in scripture is when the Prophet Jonah was sent to Nineveh. He proclaimed a message of coming judgement, but the people repented and God in His mercy relented concerning the judgement that He told Jonah to proclaim. Jonah was not too happy because it made it seem as if he wasn’t hearing from God in the first place.

The Alarm is being Sounded

We are in a time when watchmen of all sorts are sounding their alarms! We are in the midst of a crisis! It is interesting to me that the word Crisis comes from the Greek word “Krisis” which is typically translated “judgement” in the New Testament. It is defined in the “Online Etymology Dictionary” as “1. an unstable situation of extreme danger or difficulty; 2. a crucial stage or turning point in the course of something; (a point at which change must come, for better or worse.)” This is where we are at! Something must change and the alarms are being sounded,

Joel 2:1 (NKJV) 1 “Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain!

Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble…”

The Hope is in the Promises

One may ask, where is the hope in all of this? The hope is in the promises of God!

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,

Isaiah 43:2-3 (NKJV) 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow youWhen you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;”

Emmanuel means God is with us and for us! He will never leave us nor forsake us no matter what we are going through! These are the promises of God! This is our hope!

I have to point out that this doesn’t mean we’re not going to go through the floods or the fires! As Peter said in 1st Peter 4:12-13 (NKJV) 12 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice…”

This is the place where many of us get tripped up by the enemy. We expect God to keep us from the trials instead of seeing us through them. It is how we handle those times that matters the most. Put your hope in God! Jesus is in the boat with us through the storms of life!

Wisdom says to Pray AND Prepare

So, what should be our response to these warning messages? First of all, we need to be in fervent prayer and fasting if possible. Serious times require serious responses. Our first response should always be to go to the Father! Let’s head to the secret place, put our heads upon His chest, and listen to His heart. We should also be crying out for His intervention and His mercy.  James 2:13 (NKJV) “…Mercy triumphs over judgment.” However, take the example of Jesus in the garden if we do have to go through it,

Luke 22:41-43 (NKJV) 41 …He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”

43 “Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.”

Secondly, wisdom dictates that we should also prepare ourselves for the storms. If we knew that a hurricane was coming our way wouldn’t we board up our windows, get the food stock that we need and prepare in every way we possibly could before it hit? Why should we see it any differently when a spiritual storm is approaching? Burying our heads in the sand won’t help us when the storm hits.

I believe that God is letting His people know ahead of time about the things that are about to come upon us so we can be properly prepared when those storms hit! I believe that the Lord is revealing to me that at least from sometime soon through the end of the year there will be major attacks of the enemy in the U. S. especially. Even if the Presidential election goes in favor of President Trump, which I feel is going to happen, the opposers have already shown that they are not planning to accept that well. I believe that the reciprocal is also possible. Even though Christians are not given to protests, there are many Patriotic people in this country that are very much willing to stage protests at that point in the game. While this has not been the norm in the past, we are not living in normal times. Something has changed in the atmosphere and it may be some time if not ever that things will go back to how they were. We should expect that the closer we get to Jesus’ return the more aggravated the enemy will get.

Trust and Obey

Both of these responses are needed! To quote the hymn writer John H. Sammis, “Trust and Obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” Size requirements do not allow for me to put this whole hymn in here, but let me suggest that you look it up on the internet. It has some good advice.

Prayer Alert Update

The last email I sent out was a prayer alert concerning Militia’s and possible Civil War. After I sent this out I kept my eyes and ears tuned for these topics and you would be surprised at the number of articles I have saved concerning these items in our current situation. We still need to hold this up in prayer. As the rioting and looting continue, these are becoming very real possibilities. I don’t hope for this to come about nor do I want to spread fear. I’m just feeling that these are very real situations that could happen. The militias are already responding in some of the circumstances; and we need to be interceding for a Divine Intervention. I feel we are being informed so we can pray into it, not so we will fear if it happens.

I join my alarm with many other “Watchmen” and resound that we, as the Ecclesia of God, need to raise our voices to heaven and go into spiritual warfare mode like never before. The USA as we know it and the world need us now!
