Though the light be hidden from me
“Though the light be hidden from me, yet will I trust…..”
One early morning, as I was starting to wake up, I heard the voice of Jesus say to me out loud, “everyone must walk through Damascus”. Although I didn’t understand it immediately, I spent much time meditating on the section of the Bible when Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus.
“As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything” (Acts 9:3-8).
After hearing the voice of Jesus, I went into a season of spiritual blindness. It was as if God had hidden his light from me. I no longer felt the passion of my heart, nor did I feel the spirit of prophecy. I was lost. Yet I knew it was a test.
So what is the test of Damascus? When Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he heard the voice of Jesus and he was given a vision of Annais praying over him to restore his sight. All Saul had to follow was this vision and the prophecy of Jesus to him. The test of Damascus is a test of FAITH.
There are many people in this test even now. You have been given a dream or vision, a promise of God. Yet you cannot see how it can ever be possible, in fact it looks completely impossible. When you come to this place in your walk of faith, know that you are entering into the fulfillment. This is when you need to stir up your faith to BELIEVE those promises of old that God has given you. It is the fire of God testing your faith. When God gives us the meat of his promise, it must be cooked under his fire. As you stand and believe what God has shown you, the promise will come forth fully cooked and your faith will be rewarded by seeing what you have heard come to pass.
Faith comes before the promise. The reward of your faith is to see the promise fulfilled. To those walking down the road to Damascus, I encourage you to dust off the vision of your heart and believe once again. Stand, even when you cannot see…STAND and you will see the glory of God.
