Time for the Real
Many in my body have been satisfied, says God, with a false intimacy often because that is all you knew. You wanted the real thing, but you never experienced the real intimacy with Me on a regular basis. You never spent enough time to get to know me. You never got into the trenches with me. Sunday mornings are not enough time to be truly intimate with me. We cannot reach that place of “knowing” when we only talk on Sundays-if you only listen on Sundays through the preacher. If all you’ve ever known of me is through someone else that is not real intimacy with me.
When you learn to listen and hear my voice that builds true intimacy. When you spend time in my word getting to know me that builds true intimacy. When we walk and talk together that builds true intimacy. When you wake up and immediately think of me, says God, that builds true intimacy. When you sit quietly alone and worship me even without the music that builds true intimacy. When you are in the midst of many others worshiping me and it’s really just you and me, that builds true intimacy. When you know my voice and listen for me to speak, to call your name, that builds true intimacy. When you get into a mess, and you call out my name first, that builds true intimacy. When you search me out and you look all around to find me, that builds true intimacy.
There’s a depth of true intimacy that most of my people have not been to because they just love me from afar. They’ve been seduced by the things of the world, school, tv, friends; mostly because they don’t spend enough time with me. They don’t turn their affections to me unless they’re in a jam. Those days are quickly coming to a close, because I am coming into your lives in a new, sudden and powerful way and I won’t be mistaken. You won’t have to wonder if I’m in the room, says God.
This grand seduction of the enemy is broken. His days are numbered. His access will be denied because my people will CHOOSE me at a new level. They will RECOGNIZE me at a deeper place. They will SEE me in new aspects that will rock their world. Even those who do know me intimately will dive deeper with me than ever before. There is a new and deeper place of intimacy and “knowing” available for each one. Never again will you be satisfied with the status quo or just a little bit of me. Never again will that false sense of my presence, or just what the music stirs up alone, or only the “feel good” sense of just coming together with other believers or even your friends, never again will that be enough!
When you have truly tasted of the authentic, intimate togetherness of the bridegroom and his bride you will be ruined for anything less than that real intimate knowing! When you find out that’s what you were born for and made for everything will change! So, just come on in, my scepter is extended to you. Spend some time with me. Stay awhile. Spend some time listening for me, loving me, letting me love on you, not just on Sunday morning but every day, all during the day. Let’s talk all throughout the day like we have a real love relationship. Depend on me. Trust me with your secrets. I know them already and I still love you!! You can’t change how I love you!! So just repent, run to me and allow me to flood your soul with forgiveness and peace. Repent for walking in the status quo, staying in the halfway, in the every-once-in-a-while place of intimacy. You were born to be my bride, my fearless one, my beloved. You are the one who takes my breath away and I should make your heartbeat faster just because I’m near.
Come into the intimate place with only me, all other lovers left behind, just you and me, me and you. The place where all you think about is me and what I’m thinking, what I’m doing, what I want. All other seductions—run far and fast away from that, turn away quickly. Those are just fake, false things drawing you away from me and what my true intimacy with you is really like. Our thoughts will be entwined all day and we will be so wrapped up in each other, that soon we will have spent some much real time together you will begin to look like me, you’ll favor me, you’ll talk like me, you’ll love like me, you’ll move like me, and even think like me! You will have the mind of Christ. You will be IN me, and I will be IN you. This is more than just salvation I’m talking about. It’s an intimate, abiding connection that takes time spent in authentic, close, love like connection and relationship. A relationship where you’ve learned you can trust me and you’ve learned obedience so I can trust you, too. Obedience to what I say to do, or whenever I call for you, then you just come; that is what builds intimacy and relationship with me.
When you come to me out of desiring to be with me, not just because the book says so or it’s expected. It’s the wanting and the desiring to please me, because your heart breaks knowing that your actions or your response didn’t please me or wouldn’t please me. It’s choosing me over every other thing not because of the rules, but because you can’t bear dishonor me and not please me. When you choose me, I honor you as well and that never changes.
When my people choose me over the television, over Netflix, over the food, over the money, over the power, over the porn, over the anger, over the jealousy, over the sleep, over the pity, over the pain, over the loneliness, over the misplaced hope, over the disappointment, over the fear, over the bitterness, over the abandonment, over the power grabs, over the control, over the competition, when you choose me over YOU and what you think you want first, then that is where real intimacy begins to grow. So choose me!
When you come to the end of yourself, and you find yourself lacking, just choose me again and again. Then you will learn to meet me and find me in that deep place, because it’s not just about the rules or just about the obeying so much as it’s about the being with me and choosing what I’ve provided over what you can make happen or even get away with. You have been bought with a price, I paid a high price so you could be with me and live in intimate, authentic, never-ending connection with me, says God!
Join me, come on in, choose me, run with me, enjoy the fullness of being with me say God. It is your rightful place because you are the bride, and I am the bridegroom! I paid a high price so you could choose me because I chose you first! I chose you first!! I chose you first says God! I loved you first! Come away with me, my beloved!
Let this be our prayer:
Lord, I come humbly to the secret place ready to be with you, ready to love on you, ready to run out into the fields with you. I’m ready to let you take my hand and lead me and twirl me around. Spinning around with you holding hands and letting go! I am ready to just lie down in the grass and contemplate life with you. Ready to let you love me. Ready to receive the love and the life you have dreamed of for me. I’m ready now, help me in all my inadequacy of not knowing how to walk this new way with you. Help me to know how to navigate the unbeaten paths you want me to blaze. Thank you for taking me off the wide, beaten path so I can run freely with you in the open fields where the wildflowers bloom and make their own bouquet for me from you!
All to Jesus, I surrender. All to him I freely give. I will ever love and trust him and in his presence daily live.
I Surrender all.
So, you, my dear bride, choose me, live rightly, live forgiven and live in the intimate, authentic place seated in the heavenlies because that is your portion, that is your place, because I made you righteous in me. Then new, true and deeper intimacy follows that choosing of me, and we abide there, you and I together in authentic, true intimacy of the bride and her bridegroom, of the Bridegroom and His Bride!

“The one I love calls to me: Arise, my dearest. Hurry, my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one. The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer. You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.”
