What To Do When Things Appear To Dry Up?

A word by Apostle Demontae Edmonds

A pastor sent me a seed the other day and included with it one of my favorite verses. Reading the verse stirred up my soul AND reminded me many years ago this verse was one of my “SURVIVAL VERSES” during a wilderness season (especially financial) in my life. What to do when things dry up? What to do in a famine? What to do when your money flow seems restricted? The natural mind would say to penny pinch and hold on to what you already possess. Lets find out what a man of God in the Bible did in such situation and the results he received.

Genesis 26:1 “And there was a famine in the land,….(v.12) Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.”

Isaac sowed during the time of famine. He used his eyes of faith to look to the spiritual (Kingdom supply) versus the natural state of affairs around him.. Faith sees and seizes the moment! Faith sees opportunity for favor and increase when others can only see failure and lack.

The Bible informs us that if we solely rely upon our natural observation, intellect, and senses to make decisions we will miss divine opportunities of increase and favor. Did you know that MANY millionaires are made during seasons of economic recessions, depressions, and market drops? They do so because by faith they spend, lend, buy, and invest in contradiction to negative news reports and the pessimistic mindset of the masses.

Ecclesiastes 11:4, “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.”

God doesn’t mind us acknowledging the reality of whats happening around us but we must always ACKNOWLEDGE his wisdom, leading, and guidance as superior. God does not make predictions or deals in speculation. He deals in absolutes and is a keeper of his word. Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

What was the result of his faith & sowing? Genesis 26:13, “And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:” While others decreased, he increase and not only became great but “BECAME VERY GREAT.” It is easy to sow during easy times and season of abundance but the true test of faith happens when we obey God’s leading and sow in famine and drought. Sowing in the face of financial uncertainty says to God, “God you are my source!!!”

Biblical truths that we must embrace as Kingdom citizens

1- God keeps is a keeper of his Word
James 1:12, “Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well
seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.”

2- God’s Word works if you work it (apply it)
Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

3- God’s Word is not restrained by the economy or environment
Genesis 26:1 “And there was a famine in the land,….(v.12) Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.”

4- God instituted the law of sowing and reaping
2 Corinthians 9:6, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

5- God’s Word has healing power
Psalms 107:20, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
