You Shall Recover All! – A Word by Daniel Pontious

Sometimes you may be in a place where you feel like there’s just no one in your corner. It Seems like the whole world is against you, you feel surrounded by enemies, even the people of your own house.

King David had that same problem one day while he was out fighting with his army. For when they came home to their own town called Ziklag, they found it abandoned and burned with fire. All their possessions, family members and everything else was gone.

David’s men in his own army turned on him, because instead of immediately going after the enemy he went in to seek the Lord for counsel. His own men were so angry that they were ready to stone him,, (because of his lack of action), but David Encouraged himself in the Lord. It was then that God told him to pursue his enemies and that he would recover everything.

“David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED AND STRENGTHENED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD.” 1 Samuel 30:6

Sometimes we are going to be put into positions where we may feel like God is the only ally we have, everyone else will seem to be against us. It’s during those times of stress that we may have to encourage ourselves in the Lord and wait on His directions despite pressure from those around us. TIMING IS SOMETIMES EVERYTHING!

Had David gone chasing after that army prematurely he may have run into a very different scenario. When He caught up to them after the Lord told him to go, their army was drinking themselves drunk. They were so drunk that it became an easy victory for David and his men; whereas if He had approached them earlier while they were sober the scenario could have been very different. God directed him to go at exactly the right time to achieve an easy victory and RECOVER ALL!

“And when he had brought David down, behold, the raiders were spread abroad over all the land, EATING AND DRINKING AND DANCING because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

And David smote them from twilight even to the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except 400 youths who rode camels and fled.” 1 Samuel 30:16

Sometimes timing is everything from our perspective, God knows exactly how to direct us despite the counsel of others who see things differently. In those times of stress and pressure we really need to encourage ourselves in the Lord when no one else will and as we do God will direct us to victory over our situations with perfect timing.
