Julie Price: Your Identity Is In Him ~ What Do You See? (Song of Solomon Chapter 4)

whitehorse

In Song of Solomon Chapter 4 king Solomon is admiring his bride’s beauty. This is a picture of how Jesus feels for us, His bride. Many times, we tend to look at ourselves through the eyes of our failures, our mistakes, traumatic events, or the hurtful words said over us.  It can be a number of things that shape us into a false image of who we really are.  We think this is our identity, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Jesus sees nothing but beauty when He looks at us; because we are His.

In the opening of this chapter, Jesus is saying to us, “Behold (observe, see, gaze upon, discern) you are beautiful, my love, behold you are beautiful. Your eyes are doves behind your veil.” Jesus has already said so much in the first two verses alone. He’s saying to you, His sons and daughters, “I think you are beautiful. So much so, I’m going to tell you again My love, you are beautiful. That veil you are hiding behind, to Me it represents modesty and purity and I can see right through it and into your eyes. Those eyes…they are innocent and pure; like doves. This is your identity. You are innocent and pure, because you have been found in Me. Once you allow me to remove the veil, we will have full access to each other. Yes, I desire to know you more. Come away with me. Marry Me. Say ‘I do.”

The Lord is calling His bride out of hiding; out of shame, confusion, despair, out from behind the veil. He wants to remove your veil and show you who you really are. He wants to see all of you (like a honeymoon) even those painful and shameful places you try to hide.

The Lord spoke to me so deeply from just these two verses and out of my heart I said to Him, “Jesus, You make even the darkest moments beautiful. Your love for us is overwhelming. You have always been there for us. You did promise you would never leave us. You were there.” My spirit is being reborn. The real Julie is rising up and I’m still getting to know her now.

This is our identity. How the Father sees us. Not our past, present circumstances, the opinions of those around us, or the hurtful words spoken to us.

Beloved this chapter is full of love for you.  Jesus loves you, but He is also in love with you.  He wants to draw you closer; to take you deeper.  Knowing Him in His fullness and His goodness is what it’s always been about.   He wants a relationship with you; not a superficial one, but a deep, loving intimate relationship with you.  He wants you to know who He says you are, because this is who you really are.

Come away with Him beloved.  Treasures await you!
